After using MSN Portfolio for 15 years, I discovered on Dec 8 that it was ending, and the arbitrary cut off of Dec 22 was pretty offensive.
That made an end of year report impossible.
The Portfolio was unavailable for 8 days, preventing many from making the ‘migration’.
Any who did not migrate before Dec 22 now cannot migrate, the data is gone.
I found that all my data did migrate on Dec 11, the day before I left the country for a while.
However, the Watchlist is not trustworthy, and is weirdly formatted.
Each Portfolio has to be viewed separately. The MSN Watchlist seems to be the invention of some genius engineer who has no portfolio, does not know what is needed.
I entered the current balances to create a new Portfolio on Financial Times.
(Maybe you could re-enter the FT email address using ‘at’ instead of @ sign)?
Entering all the past history of reinvested dividends will not work for me.
The options to enter them as ‘Buy’ with zero price, or ‘Buy’ with price on the past date, either way will not calculate a correct period to date return.
Reinvestment of dividends includes a return in the calculation, while Buy does not.
Those reinvested dividends do not affect my tax calculations, I get that information from the 1099’s provided by the fund companies.
On the FT arrangement, all Portfolios can be seen using the Dashboard, with total value at the top.
But, Portfolios with more than 1 holding will not show the separate holdings.
That Portfolio must be opened and shown separately, still no way to print.
At 9am Central Time, the FT Portfolio shows dollar values. To see the current share price, number of shares, and value of the separate holding, the Portfolio must be opened.
I want to see all holdings in one screen, a screen that can be printed for file.
Guess I was spoiled the past 15 years, got just what I wanted every month.
Now, January 1 will be a long day of manually making a report for my own purposes.
For all of you in the same boat, Happy New Year!!
