You may have recently imported data from the Classic MSN or my.msn.com pages to the new MSN.com Money Watchlist/Portfolio and may not have received all of your Watchlist/Portfolio data. The MSN team has resolved the issue and you can now regain access to that information by following the steps below.
Note: These steps only apply if your Watchlist has already been imported and there is data missing. If you have not already imported a Watchlist, please go to the Watchlist, sign in, and you will then be prompted to begin the import. You may need to return to this step if you find that data is missing after your first attempt to import.
Step 1: Create a new Watchlist and delete any Watchlists from previous imports
Step 2: Re-import your existing Watchlist or Portfolio data from MSN.com or my.msn.com into a new Watchlist
Step 3: Clean any erroneous data imported into your new Watchlist(s).

I am also frustrated! Need to be able to print separate accounts (portfolios) on one page with an overall total gain/loss at a glance. Anyone finds this on a site or software please post. I will be cancelling my premium account if MSN deletes old portfolio manager!
So after reading all the horror stories about missing imported data, I decided to wait a little bit before attempting to import my Portfolio Manager data into the new My Watchlist page. I have a lot of transactions (about 15 years worth).
It still does NOT import all of the data. It is close but still not 100%. From a first glance, it reports errors on all stock symbols that no longer exist (companies that have been bought out, gone bankrupt, changed symbols,etc). For example, I used to own DELL stock, and now My Watchlist just show blanks for all the columns. The old Portfolio Manager displays the gain/loss on those defunct symbols. It's still nice to keep this information to have a historical record on how your investments have done. So the import process is still not fully functional.
Another gripe is that the new page has LESS functionality than the old one. I liked how in Portfolio Manager you could customize the columns you see and there were way MORE options in which kind of data you could select. Simple data like showing the DOLLAR amount for TOTAL RETURN in addition to the percentage amount. Also, things like ANNUALIZED RETURN was useful but now missing.
Just go to Morningstar and set up a portfolio just by signing up forfree. Much better then MSN Money in all ways.
I do not agree that it is better in all ways. The old MSN PM was easy to use. The differences I see are that MSN had all my separate accounts (portfolios) on one page with an overall total value/gain at a glance. The Morningstar site is also missing two key metrics for me - just a plain old Annualized Return for life of ownership and a Total Cumulative % return for life of ownership that includes Dividends (NOT reinvested, just distributions). These seem like two pretty rudimentary calculations, but the Morningstar portfolio doesn't do them.
This whole mess has just got me so frustrated. Like others, I don't want to start over by entering 15-20 years of data. Thanks, Microsoft.

A relatively simple solution for longtime users of PM (with years of records and trades stored) and for Microsoft would be to allow the "work-around site" ( moneycentral.msn.com/stock_portfolio ) to continue FOR THEN EXISTING SUBSCRIBERS and, if MSN wishes, force the newer subscribers and usernames to use the 'new' PM, if they so choose.
The old, work-around PM is still the most useful site for me, even though they have slightly corrupted the "news" access for a particular stock by sending many of the clicks to the 'improved' Money site where it is impossible to find the news story that was referenced. That happens for me about 25% of the time I try to read a company-related story. Of course, not being able to input new trades or to add/delete companies is also a bummer. Still, it's better than what I can find anywhere else with the 64 companies in my portfolio.
Even though I cannot modify my portfolio of stocks on the work-around site, the current data that is provided (especially with the Custom View, which I use) continues to be very useful to me.
I am not computer or site savvy but I KNOW, WITHOUT ANY DOUBT, that the engineers at MSN could allow the work-around site to continue for many, many years if Adriana and her supervisors would recommend it to MSN. It's a matter of good customer support and it's just as simple as that.
MSN, here is an opportunity to really support a significant segment of your user base. How about showing some 'Good Faith'? If that decision is made, I think a lot of good PR would result if Adriana would make a post of that decision instead of just letting things stay as they are and letting everyone wonder! Let us users know that you are looking out for us!
(By the way, I really like the options of the Reply box we are using!)
