You may have recently imported data from the Classic MSN or my.msn.com  pages to the new MSN.com Money Watchlist/Portfolio and may not have received all of your Watchlist/Portfolio data. The MSN team has resolved the issue and you can now regain access to that information by following the steps below.

Note: These steps only apply if your Watchlist has already been imported and there is data missing. If you have not already imported a Watchlist, please go to the Watchlist, sign in, and you will then be prompted to begin the import. You may need to return to this step if you find that data is missing after your first attempt to import.

Step 1: Create a new Watchlist and delete any Watchlists from previous imports

Step 2: Re-import your existing Watchlist or Portfolio data from MSN.com or my.msn.com into a new Watchlist

Step 3: Clean any erroneous data imported into your new Watchlist(s).

    Someone else's response suggests that this is not going to work.  I'll give it a try, but before making all my data inaccessible, would you please provide a method for downloading it all into an excel file so that I will be able to create a backup.

    Your right MSN doesn't care about our thoughts and feelings.  I'm doing every thing I can not to use MSN to include products and advertisors

    Well, looks like they've decided to continue down the path of putting out a vastly inferior portfolio service and screw over the people who have years of painstaking transactions entered into the old portfolio service.  At the top of the old portfolio screen this morning:

    The classic MSN Money Portfolio Manager will be shut down completely on 22nd December, 2014.

    Thanks a lot, Microsoft.  Thanks for listening to what your customers think.  In case you're wondering, I'm being facetious.  This is BS.

    Is there a way to export from PM to Morningstar, or will I have to type in all previous transactions?

    There was quite a few tips posted Oct. 7 thru Oct 10 by Lawrence HW, monkeyfurball, Ward Stevens, JackRandell on this thread.

    I also found this article on www.doughroller.net by Bob Berger.  I intend to try it next week, importing from my Excell.  I already had my Excell records and just had to copy it  and make a page with the required columns as Bob suggests.  This would only help you if you have Excell already done.

    Adriana,

    I won't beat a dead horse and it appears that portfolio manager is a dead horse and isn't revivable.  That said, I tried again after about six weeks to reimport everything and I noticed some issues.  Things are better but here's some issues:

    Arithmetic doesn't work quite like in original Portfolio Manager.  We originally entered shares to four decimals, now only two are being shown but that's causing problems.

    If I bought 100 shares and sold 100 shares, all is well,  But if I dripped and had reinvested dividends of .0123 and .2345 shares, it's virtually impossible to exactly balance, leading to issues showing as having .00 shares but still active, and possibly invalid transactions.  For example, I have a summary position in PM of .45 shares but the transaction where I sold .448 shares is being flagged as an error.  I dropped it to .44 shares and it went through and now PM is still around but showing .00 shares.

    I once held Wrigley gum (WWY) which no longer exists so now all my transactions are listed as invalid.

    Mutual funds are having issues; the buys are sometimes okay, sometimes they are displayed with every field starting with the date as a field of a hyphen, then the true field value, then a hyphen, then the next true field value, etc.  Then the summary totals are off too.

    Adding transaction NOTES are going in as a virtually invisible font.

    Also, for my desktop PC, I have about 20 watchlists, and it's virtually impossible to get to the 'Manage Watchlists line, as it's hidden and only some random clicking and scrolling has it appear.  It should be at the top of the watchlists along with Create New Watchlist.
