Learn more about the new features in MyWatchlist by clicking here: My Watchlist: FAQ

You may have recently imported data from the Classic MSN or my.msn.com  pages to the new MSN.com Money Watchlist/Portfolio and may not have received all of your Watchlist/Portfolio data. The MSN team has resolved the issue and you can now regain access to that information by following the steps below.

Note: These steps only apply if your Watchlist has already been imported and there is data missing. If you have not already imported a Watchlist, please go to the Watchlist, sign in, and you will then be prompted to begin the import. You may need to return to this step if you find that data is missing after your first attempt to import.

Step 1: Create a new Watchlist and delete any Watchlists from previous imports

Step 2: Re-import your existing Watchlist or Portfolio data from MSN.com or my.msn.com into a new Watchlist

Step 3: Clean any erroneous data imported into your new Watchlist(s).

If you need more details about the steps, please go to this article.

If you are still having difficulties or would like to report any errors, please reply to this thread.

Thank you!

Yes, my way is not perfect, you have to scroll down and do an additional print screen(s) of the transactions that werent shown in the first print screen.  But its faster and more accurate than writing down by hand.

It doesn't surprise me when a code base is retired.  There are strategic considerations here so that M/S can use the same code base to support web based and smart phone and tablet markets.  What this does is allow a higher user predictability of what they will see when using this app on the different platforms.  It also allows a smaller support footprint and a coherent upgrade cycle.

Very interesting, Sonora. So in other words, Portfolio Manger is being dumbed down to the level that will fit on a smartphone screen?

Essentially, yes, because a common code base is easier and cheaper to maintain.  Unfortunately, using standards that all platforms subscribe to doesn't usually lead to the best user experience, and in this case, it was exacerbated by what appears to be woeful project management.

I do a print screen (Alt and Print Screen pressed at the sametime) of the transaction detail of each individual stock in the old PM.  I then copy (Ctrl and V pressed at the sametime) the print screen into an excel file.  I have a worksheet for each individual stock screen print.  At the bottom of the excel file the worksheets are labeled   BAC  C  COP  DHI  FFIV IBM  etc.

I think most people are also doing print screens to get the data out.

Good luck getting your information out by this weekend.

Am I missing something? If there are more transactions than fit in the little individual stock transactions window pane, how can Print Screen (I use Greenshot) get everything?

Admittedly, it isn't ideal, but I've been using Hypersnap.  I used to use it at work so when I retired I bought a license for $39.95 and it's just a fantastic screen capture utility.  There's also a free trial period which you might be interested in.

Say I have a stock with 48 transactions.  The transaction frame only shows 8 transactions at a time.  I hold down Ctrl-Shift-R and drag the rectangle so it encompasses those 8 transactions, then click and it saves the capture in its chain of captures.  I then scroll down so the next 8 show and hit Ctrl-Shift-F11 and it autocaptures the next 8 and adds them to the chain of captures.  Repeat until you have all 48.  Then go to each capture, hit Ctrl-C, switch to excel or word (I placed a portfolio in a separate excel worksheet) and hit Ctrl -V.  Do this 6 times and you're done.  Thanks, Microsoft!

Is it at all possible to retrieve all the transactions without laboriously copying them by hand?

Sorry, fitzVY. I didn't realize this but will try to get additional help. I've sent an inquiry to the product team about any alternatives they may have. Thanks for clarifying your needs.

Hope you Microfolks have had a nice weekend.

Guess how your PM users are spending it before 12/22 doomsday??
