Learn more about the new features in MyWatchlist by clicking here: My Watchlist: FAQ

You may have recently imported data from the Classic MSN or my.msn.com  pages to the new MSN.com Money Watchlist/Portfolio and may not have received all of your Watchlist/Portfolio data. The MSN team has resolved the issue and you can now regain access to that information by following the steps below.

Note: These steps only apply if your Watchlist has already been imported and there is data missing. If you have not already imported a Watchlist, please go to the Watchlist, sign in, and you will then be prompted to begin the import. You may need to return to this step if you find that data is missing after your first attempt to import.

Step 1: Create a new Watchlist and delete any Watchlists from previous imports

Step 2: Re-import your existing Watchlist or Portfolio data from MSN.com or my.msn.com into a new Watchlist

Step 3: Clean any erroneous data imported into your new Watchlist(s).

If you need more details about the steps, please go to this article.

If you are still having difficulties or would like to report any errors, please reply to this thread.

Thank you!

My MS Watchlist started working today. It had been frozen on the default watchlist since DEC 22. Now I can access all of my watchlists and tabs and I can access all of my transaction history. Thank you microsoft.

In order for Watchlist to be useful for me I need to be able to see all of my holdings on one screen with a total for the whole portlolio and a way to print that screen. I will continue to update my watchlist in the hope that MS will improve the functionality but will use Sigfig for daily monitoring. Unfortunately that is double work for me.

Yes, it looks like they got Watchlist working a little better today.

But its layout is still confusing and inferior, and I don't trust their figures anymore, either.

A relic of the past, alas.

The calculated daily value change drops off the website pretty early on FT.com.  Maybe because FT.com is based in Britain?  I think around 9pm on the west coast zeros start to appear in the daily value change column.  On the east coast its probably not an issue.

For me, FT is alot better than Morningstar, especially since i have many portfolios and want to see how they are doing on a summary page (the desktop).  I have spent more time with FT.com and I find it simpler than Morningstar.  So give more time to both and see which one you like?

Good point - TW. Thanks. Must be that time difference. I am on the West Coast. Funny that it just seems to be a couple of stocks that go to zero.

I still like the way Morningstar lays everything (for the day) out in one line on one page. Makes a review very easy. But FT is the champ for ongoing gain/loss figures. I'm still playing with them both.

And can't believe how badly Microsoft screwed this whole episode up!

I was going to make some improvement suggestions to FT.com after I had more time to work with it.  Most of my time thus far with FT.com has been entering transactions. However, my suggestions at this time would be:

--To have a wider viewing area like the old PM to see more information on a single screen, but that would mean less space for ads to help pay for their free portfolio manager.

--To calculate the total cost of the investment which the old PM calculated in the transaction area (price times number of shares, plus commission or fee).

--To keep the day's value change showing longer, but that might be hard to do since they are many hours ahead of me in England. Im on the west coast.

--Maybe change how the date is entered.  All the clicking is a pain when entering older transactions, but I have already entered most of the older transactions and clicking is no problem for the current transactions.

Also if FT.com is to have a divident reinvestment option make sure it is working properly.  A couple people have said the reinvested dividends in FT.com dont match their brokerage account.  The old PM discontined showing dividends in 2004.

That being said, FT.com has alot of features that are better than the old PM.  FT.com certainly gives you alot more easy access to information for your stocks within the portfolio manager.  Im not sure I agree that the deceased old PM was best of breed.

Im impressed that FT.com is willing to speak with you.  When was the last time we heard from Adriana?  Also FT.com is working to improve their portfolio manager.  The MSN watchlist is clearly a low priority (the new PM is just a bad copy job of the Google Finance PM).  Also MSN shows no concern for the customer.  They havent kept us informed about what is going on.  They didnt monitor the old PM to make sure it was working near the Dec 22nd deadline.  They didnt extend the Dec 22nd deadline because the old PM wasnt working.  IM DONE WITH MSN.  Time to stop beating a dead horse and move on.

More detail, for those who may be interested:

I contacted the main customer support e-mail address at Financial Times, "help" at ft.com, and received a prompt response from a Customer Service Executive named Genevieve Bumanglag; pasted below is Genevieve's contact information from one of her e-mails.

    Genevieve Bumanglag

    Customer Service Executive

    Financial Times Customer Service

    Email: ******@ft.com

    International Toll Free: +800 0705 6477

    UK & CEMEA: +44 20 7775 6248

    US & Canada: +1 917 551 5005 or +1 855 685 2372 (Toll Free) Asia Pacific: +632 982 5780

    Japan: 0120 341 468

    India: 000 800 001 6817 (Toll Free)

The following information appeared on the Subject line of Genevieve's response message:

         Case No. 01682900: FT Portfolio Tool    [ ref:_00D20LryV._500D0ni4f3:ref ]

It might be helpful if everyone who contacts FT would reference the Case No. above, and perhaps also the reference information appearing above in brackets.

I think that this is a situation where there's "power in numbers."  If enough of us contact FT, they will realize that "something's up," and it might just catch the attention of either (1) someone on the editorial staff who can drive an expose article, or (2) someone on the marketing team who can drive some quick upgrades to FT's portfolio manager, to accommodate the expected onrush of former Microsoft users (!); or (3) both.

Let's keep the lines of communication open among us (Heaven knows, we've tried but failed to keep the lines of communication open with Microsoft!), and let's keep each other posted on any developments that we learn of.  Thanks, Community!  Regards, ibiwisi
