Learn more about the new features in MyWatchlist by clicking here: My Watchlist: FAQ

You may have recently imported data from the Classic MSN or my.msn.com  pages to the new MSN.com Money Watchlist/Portfolio and may not have received all of your Watchlist/Portfolio data. The MSN team has resolved the issue and you can now regain access to that information by following the steps below.

Note: These steps only apply if your Watchlist has already been imported and there is data missing. If you have not already imported a Watchlist, please go to the Watchlist, sign in, and you will then be prompted to begin the import. You may need to return to this step if you find that data is missing after your first attempt to import.

Step 1: Create a new Watchlist and delete any Watchlists from previous imports

Step 2: Re-import your existing Watchlist or Portfolio data from MSN.com or my.msn.com into a new Watchlist

Step 3: Clean any erroneous data imported into your new Watchlist(s).

If you need more details about the steps, please go to this article.

If you are still having difficulties or would like to report any errors, please reply to this thread.

Thank you!

It seems I have 'imported' and now I see only 1 'portfolio' at a time which takes up the whole screen to be 'visual ??'         I had several portfolios each of which was an unique brokerage account and I liked to be able to view the full set of holdings without ping-ponging across several screens. From all of the comments (and outrage) it is clear that your programmers/managers don't have much concept of the activities of active investors. The portfolio manager had many fine features and for my purposes it has been destroyed. I have been an MSN client for many years and have lived thru many changes (some quite unwelcome) and have been able to 'live with it'  -- this one is fatal if you cannot give us functionality like before - I don't want to be flipped into the 'new msn money' when I click on a symbol. I believe some of my brokers have the ability to handle my full set of holdings (read as stuff held elsewhere also) and if you cannot restore the functionality I will need to explore to where will I go. MSN Money portfolio is the major MSN feature keeping me as a paying customer.

It may be that the 'youngsters' need very visual screens to function. I want the functionality of nice tight information display without needing to page all over the find what I want. The portfolio manager of last year worked well; this new one is terrible indeed.   Actually the old MSN was better too if you liked information and not a lot of pictures.

Please help - make the old one re-appear for a paying customer !!

P.S. I don't know if all stocks and funds did in fact 'import' correctly as the new system is so far from meeting my needs I really didn't bother to look to see if anything was missing. I can find better info on my brokers sites for the accounts with each broker - MSN portfolio pulled things together - when it worked right !!  Clearly the new portfolio manager does not do what its name implies !!!!

Hmmm ... I would like to request if I can import from a file (e.g., a CSV) ... then I might import data from a non-Microsoft site. Can this be done?

The issue was the old URL which did work.  New worked fine and I have done the import a couple of times because of issue with the mutual funds in my portfolio.  Stocks imported perfectly, but the mutual fund share numbers are off considerably... some more than 100%.  I went through the transaction data for both the old MSN money and new version and they are the same, so wonder why the math is so far off.  Not all mutual fund share numbers are off, but 60% are.  Additionally the format under the transaction do not line up with headings but have dashes where boxes should be present, and occupy three or four lines rather than just one line.  Anyone else notice these issues?

Please, please, please make this Watchlist an optional "upgrade".  Like so many others, I have been using the MSN Portfolio Manager for years and have lots and lots of data and transactions there.  The presentation of Portfolio Manager is exactly what we want - it is customizable to show exactly what we want to see in a very concise, logical way.  The new Watchlist is just terrible in comparison.

I generally don't join in on discussions, but this issue is important to me.  The last time MSN upgraded Portfolio Manager, I was very, very concerned about the loss of my ability to export my portfolio and transactions to some kind of delimited or Excel format.  However, the new Portfolio Manager was pretty, functional, and already had all my data loaded, so I stuck with it.  It has become a daily-used and very useful tool for me, and I really appreciate MSN having it available.

However, this new Watchlist, if forced as the only option, will end my association with this site.  It is really just a bad piece of software for someone used to MSN PM.  If you must do this, please try to come up with a way for us to export our data from the Silverlight MSN PM application.  I have found no way to do this to date (and from what I can Google, neither has anyone else), but this would at least show that MSN isn't just throwing us under the bus without due consideration of our efforts over the years.

Again - please listen - don't do this.

    Thanks

    Adriana,

Partial success.  I followed the steps outlined and my portfolio migrated to the new MSN format but the screen locks up.  The ability to scroll down disappears from the right of the screen and I get a message that says:  msn.com is not responding.  Any suggestions?  I even rebooted my computer but come back with the same results.

    Thanks.

    Hi Weary senior,

When you say you have followed the steps outlined, are you referring to the migration and if the answer is yes, have you also tried re-importing it? The steps are listed on this article.

Please let me know if the re-import fails as well and describe the issues you are seeing.

    Thanks,

    Adriana
