Where is "Views"? There is no such button

"My View" is a tab near the top of the Morningstar Portfolio Manager page.

Here is how I did my conversion to Morningstar (rationale below), combining comments from several posts:

• Looking at each stock and each transaction on MSN Portfolio Manager, I typed each transaction into an excel file.
• I did a test file first with just two stocks to make sure all good.
• Top row of excel file:  Name  Ticker Shares Price Commission Date
• Did each stock, checked total shares on each against PM as I went.  80 lines for me.
• No commas, no $ signs, date in 7/15/2014 format
• Save file as xls for safekeeping
• Save file again as comma separated 'csv' format. (Ignore error messages)
• Create account in Morningstar
• Under Portfolio, Create, then Import
• Select your CSV file
• Pulls in fine
• Can rename portfolio
• Can do several times for multiple portfolio

I used Morningstar because:

a) Pilota727 recommended, and seemed to know his stuff

b) You can select many column views, re-arrange, sort, etc; more than MSN

c) Does auto-refresh

d) Morningstar is in the business of providing tools, so unlikely to flake out on a whim as MSN did and as others not focused on this may do.

So far, so good, not happy to have to change, but actually now in a better tool.  I really glommed on to MSN originally due to the autorefresh.

I just started entering information into Morningstar and it seems very good EXCEPT:

1. It doesnt give you daily DOLLAR gains or losses on each individual investment or your entire portfolio (everything is in percentage gains or losses).
2. Also, Morningstar only allows one portfolio to be viewed at a time (like the New PM).  It doesnt allow multiple portfolios to be viewed at the sametime (like the old PM).  It only provides data for each individual portfolio, and no data on total investments......and you cant put all your investments in one portfolio because Morningstar allows only 100 investment per portfolio.

I hope Im wrong.  This seems like basic information and its probably a deal killer for me.

Is this why you seem less impressed with Morningstar in your latest post?  Im thinking of moving to Quicken rather than Morningstar.

Morningsleeper, if youre out there, is this why you are holding off on choosing a new PM and not moving directly to Morningstar?

In Morningstar's "My Views" tab you'll see "Customize My View". With this tool you can indeed choose "$ change" as well as "% change".  Good luck!

Aside from all the import issues, the New PM would be better if:

1) TRANSACTIONS could be searched by symbol and the results sorted by date.  Transactions right now is alot of unorganized data and not very useful.

2) Multiple WATCHLISTs could be viewed at the sametime so you can see how your total holdings are doing.

The Old PM had these features.  Perhaps, the new PM can be brought up to speed without too much work?

The New PMs FUNDAMENTALS tab is a nice addition.
