Learn more about the new features in MyWatchlist by clicking here: My Watchlist: FAQ

You may have recently imported data from the Classic MSN or my.msn.com  pages to the new MSN.com Money Watchlist/Portfolio and may not have received all of your Watchlist/Portfolio data. The MSN team has resolved the issue and you can now regain access to that information by following the steps below.

Note: These steps only apply if your Watchlist has already been imported and there is data missing. If you have not already imported a Watchlist, please go to the Watchlist, sign in, and you will then be prompted to begin the import. You may need to return to this step if you find that data is missing after your first attempt to import.

Step 1: Create a new Watchlist and delete any Watchlists from previous imports

Step 2: Re-import your existing Watchlist or Portfolio data from MSN.com or my.msn.com into a new Watchlist

Step 3: Clean any erroneous data imported into your new Watchlist(s).

If you need more details about the steps, please go to this article.

If you are still having difficulties or would like to report any errors, please reply to this thread.

Thank you!

    Hi everyone,

I received confirmation that the issue that MorningSleeper and some of you are experiencing is related to the number of items in the Watchlist that you are attempting to import.  Originally, we were informed that the limit was increased to ~1000 items, however, it is more realistically between 500-600.

The product team is working on increasing the limit on the number of items, but I don’t have an ETA for when this will occur and what the limit will be.

As far as I know, the portfolio manager will not be going away tomorrow. There was a request to keep it available for a couple of weeks after they receive confirmation that this current issue with the import is resolved. My gut feeling is that they will keep it available a bit longer.

Once I get all the details on this, I will update the original steps at the top of this long thread.

    Thanks for your patince, everybody!

    Adriana

    Adriana,

I hope you see this post. I have been able to import my accounts although I had to adjust some items and enter missing information. However two accounts have money market funds that show the ticker in the list of holdings but have zero shares and even though the ticker symbol shows in the account and shows the share price, I cannot enter share and purchase info. I get a message to enter a correct ticker symbol. The symbol is already listed but is not recognized when I try to enter share amounts.  Also there is no column that shows the value of the individual holdings, x number of shares = y number of dollars. I don't see any place to customize the view to show this and it is a very essential column to have. A couple of my accounts would not pull up the number of shares but I double checked them a minute ago and suddenly it now shows that in all of my accounts. The only other things at this time is that it would be nice to see all of my accounts on one page and a grand total somewhere. I can pretty much get by without many of the other screens that were left out of this program although they can be very informative and helpful. The last thing is that I would really like to see the numbers rounded to four places rather than two.  That can make a surprisingly significant difference in the numbers.

Thanks for your help with this. If you suggest that I need to reimport again, you will have to share the latest instructions since I can't seem to locate them somewhere in the 23 pages in this thread.  Thanks again.

I checked the updated article and have removed all but one watchlist, the remove icon is always greyed out on the last remaining watchlist so one cannot delete them all, then removed all stocks from the remaining watchlist so that I had not only less than 75 total stocks across all new watchlists but 0 stocks. Then tried the import of an account with 850 stocks in it and get the same message I have always been getting:

There was a problem migrating your watchlists. Please try again in few minutes.

Although the article states that the new watchlist cannot have more than 75 total stocks across all new watchlists in order for an import to complete would you please confirm whether or not this also means that an account in the old portfolio manager one wants to import can have at most 75 stocks, if one has 0 stocks across all their new watchlists, or less than 75, if one has 1 or more stocks in one or more of the new watchlists as the article does not address this.

I suspect this is the case and the cause of the problem for me and other users that have old Portfolio Manager accounts with more than 75 stocks but it would be helpful to get confirmation so that we can start making alternative plans should there be no solution in the next 2 days, other than to start deleting stocks in our old Portfolio Manage accounts.

Thanks for the report, MorningSleeper. I'm as eager as you and other users are to see these issues with importing the data to go away. I have provided your response to the product team and will get update this thread as soon as I get their response.

    Adriana,

I followed the updated instructions.  My funds all came through but my totals were less than the (accurate) totals in the old portfolio manager, leading me to believe some of my transactions were left out in the import.  This has happened every time I try to import, and I have done this 5 times so far. Bear in mind that I have multiple funds in my portfolio and my transactions go back to 1997, making it very difficult to go through and figure out which ones are missing.  Additionally, I don't know if anyone else is having this problem but I find My Watchlist to respond very sluggishly most times I click on something, and it often locks up temporarily even while scrolling. I am not working on an older computer and have no problems with other websites.  I will not even get into the dearth of features in My Watchlist as compared with the old portfolio manager.

I will reiterate the sentiments of others in this thread:  PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE allow us past users to keep the old portfolio manager. The new My Watchlist is just abominable.

I'm having exactly the same problems & my sentiments are precisely the same. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE allow us past users to keep the old portfolio manager. The new My Watchlist is just abominable.
