Learn more about the new features in MyWatchlist by clicking here: My Watchlist: FAQ

You may have recently imported data from the Classic MSN or my.msn.com  pages to the new MSN.com Money Watchlist/Portfolio and may not have received all of your Watchlist/Portfolio data. The MSN team has resolved the issue and you can now regain access to that information by following the steps below.

Note: These steps only apply if your Watchlist has already been imported and there is data missing. If you have not already imported a Watchlist, please go to the Watchlist, sign in, and you will then be prompted to begin the import. You may need to return to this step if you find that data is missing after your first attempt to import.

Step 1: Create a new Watchlist and delete any Watchlists from previous imports

Step 2: Re-import your existing Watchlist or Portfolio data from MSN.com or my.msn.com into a new Watchlist

Step 3: Clean any erroneous data imported into your new Watchlist(s).

If you need more details about the steps, please go to this article.

If you are still having difficulties or would like to report any errors, please reply to this thread.

Thank you!

OK. I must be missing something somewhere. This tells me to follow the steps but I can't seem to find a place to re-import. Where do I go to find the migrate button? I must not be seeing something. I have renamed all of my watchlists (since all but one is blank and the other is way off). Please help me. I am lost!

Watchlist imported stocks from years ago, some current stocks, some sold ones.  No rhyme or reason to why it did this.  What a colossal MESS Microsoft has created in my portfolio.  I don't get it.   Did you have people who have NEVER owned a stock create it?  Why did you do it this way?  I just want to know the reasons that I've lost years of easy to find and easy to follow transactions---literally a couple of thousand transactions that I doubt are recoverable in your terribly conceived, horribly launched Watchlist.

I had about 40 watch lists iwith probably up to 400+ stocks categorized by what area they were in (ie...chip stocks, oil, miners, telecomm, etc,,,) and some had only a few stocks some had maybe 30 or 40 stocks.     If I can't get them all back like my existing portfolio manager then why bother?    This becomes useless at this point and I'll go to another vendor who can get it right.     This import process is a complete failure on the part of MSFT in my opinion and reading all the posts everyone is having problems which tells me that it was rushed and not properly tested.   I have relied on the portfolio manager for over 15 years and it saddens me greatly that is being messed up like this.

That error message to try again in a few minutes may be misleading as waiting a few minutes or hours has no effect in at least two cases I have come across where that message appears.

    Case #1

If you have not completed the import process:

The number of accounts in the old portfolio manager may exceed 10. Uncheck fewer accounts during the import process and that message should not appear and the import should complete - minus of course one or more of your accounts.

    If you are re-importing:

The number of watchlists in the new watchlists plus the number of accounts in the old portfolio manager may exceed 10. Uncheck fewer accounts during the import process and that message should not appear and the import should complete - minus of course one or more of your accounts. Once you complete the import, delete as many watchlists as needed so that when you try the reimport again the total between the new and old will be 10 or less.

    Case #2

The number of stocks in one or more of your accounts you are trying to import from the old portfolio manager may exceed a certain amount, reportedly 70. Uncheck that account and that message should not appear and the import should complete - minus of course your large account. If you delete enough stocks from the large account in your old portfolio manager so that you have less than 70, it should in theory work if you try to re-import it again.

Hopefully MSN can improve their error messages so that they provide the actual cause and solution, if any.

I figured out how to rename the list but now I can't get to a screen which asks me to import and lets me select the holdings as well as the symbols.
