I agree with Floyd, I like FT.com the best for tracking stocks.  Its free and provides a wealth of information about your stocks and their performance over different time periods.

I also like that the FT.com Portfolio provides you with a summary of your portfolios.  The other sites such as MSN and Morningstar only allow you view each portfolio separately.

Unfortunately, I also agree with Floyd that FT.com updates the mutual funds very late.  Right now its 7:20pm pacific time and the FT.com Portfolio is reporting today's results for stocks and yesterdays results for mutual funds.  The FT.com total porfolio value change for the day is incorrect.  Rather than give you a total portfolio value change for the day, it gives you a blend of todays value change for stocks and yesterday's value change for mutual funds.  Which is not helpful.

I am trying to build a watchlist. When I add the mutual funds with the number of shares and price, MSN money is calculating the total value incorrectly... Can you help with this?

When MSN said it would terminate the reliable Portfolio on December 22, 2014, and replace it with a useless Watchlist, they did exactly that.

You may as well give up using of any of the MSM money lists.  They are useless, everyone knows it, including Microsoft.  I suspect that no one is monitoring these discussion groups the past 6 months.

The Watchlists at Morningstar will give you accurate calculations.  You may have several watchlists, and no way to get a total.  You have to look at each watchlist separately, as you do on MSN watchlists.

The Portifolio on Financial Times works best for me.  I have several 'watchlists', and the 'Dashboard' provides a total.  Still, it has a couple of 'problems'.

Mutual Funds do not update until 10:30pm Central Time.  (Financial Times is in London).

If any of your watchlists contain more than 1 holding, you cannot print the whole Portfolio, as was done with the old reliable MSN Portfolio.

My solution is to open a MSWord document, then 'copy and paste' the cells from the FT Portfolio.  It is a nuisance, I line up the columns manually.

MSN destroyed a good thing, the old Portfolio, and they do not intend to bring it back, or to fix the current, useless, watchlist.

I don't have a lot of hope for this endeavor - as I've reported this problem thru other avenues, and got no result.

And I see from having read the pages that led me here, that people w/ valid complaints don't seem to be getting satisfaction...But I need someone to acknowledge that the watch list is broken **moderator edit**

And, of course TO FIX IT.

Now that you know why I have my attitude, here's why;

I have a watch list with 26 entries (stocks with DRP's), one of which is Chesapeake Utilities [ticker: CPK].

The watchlist virtually never returns the correct data. It usually returns NO data for the stock - the line of data for the stock is blank. Not even stock's name. Only the ticker symbol shows.

And if you click on it (CPK) - the tick that show on the tab is "CpK" not "CPK".

And there is data for several stocks (and markets) if you just submit "CPK" for a quote.

Most often a quote request returns a stock price around $26 - and CPK is a $49 stock!!

This behavior suggests that THE WATCHLIST IS UNRELIABLE

I'm pretty sure this is why data doesn't get passed into the watchlist grid.

I've given all the info that a qualified programmer needs to fix this, and yet, I've been waiting since October!

I'm ready to pick a different Home Page (which I kept when I got my new laptop - I thought I'd give MSN a spin...) and a better stock tracker. You know what would be better? One that works!

Anyone else experiencing this problem?

in the last 2 days , when I click on one of my stocks in the watchlist , I get the market data (ie price volumes,etc. ) but no market news clips on latest news articles.
