Learn more about the new features in MyWatchlist by clicking here: My Watchlist: FAQ

You may have recently imported data from the Classic MSN or my.msn.com  pages to the new MSN.com Money Watchlist/Portfolio and may not have received all of your Watchlist/Portfolio data. The MSN team has resolved the issue and you can now regain access to that information by following the steps below.

Note: These steps only apply if your Watchlist has already been imported and there is data missing. If you have not already imported a Watchlist, please go to the Watchlist, sign in, and you will then be prompted to begin the import. You may need to return to this step if you find that data is missing after your first attempt to import.

Step 1: Create a new Watchlist and delete any Watchlists from previous imports

Step 2: Re-import your existing Watchlist or Portfolio data from MSN.com or my.msn.com into a new Watchlist

Step 3: Clean any erroneous data imported into your new Watchlist(s).

If you need more details about the steps, please go to this article.

If you are still having difficulties or would like to report any errors, please reply to this thread.

Thank you!

More detail, for those who may be interested:

I contacted the main customer support e-mail address at Financial Times, "help" at ft.com, and received a prompt response from a Customer Service Executive named Genevieve Bumanglag; pasted below is Genevieve's contact information from one of her e-mails.

    Genevieve Bumanglag

    Customer Service Executive

    Financial Times Customer Service

    Email: ******@ft.com

    International Toll Free: +800 0705 6477

    UK & CEMEA: +44 20 7775 6248

    US & Canada: +1 917 551 5005 or +1 855 685 2372 (Toll Free) Asia Pacific: +632 982 5780

    Japan: 0120 341 468

    India: 000 800 001 6817 (Toll Free)

The following information appeared on the Subject line of Genevieve's response message:

         Case No. 01682900: FT Portfolio Tool    [ ref:_00D20LryV._500D0ni4f3:ref ]

It might be helpful if everyone who contacts FT would reference the Case No. above, and perhaps also the reference information appearing above in brackets.

I think that this is a situation where there's "power in numbers."  If enough of us contact FT, they will realize that "something's up," and it might just catch the attention of either (1) someone on the editorial staff who can drive an expose article, or (2) someone on the marketing team who can drive some quick upgrades to FT's portfolio manager, to accommodate the expected onrush of former Microsoft users (!); or (3) both.

Let's keep the lines of communication open among us (Heaven knows, we've tried but failed to keep the lines of communication open with Microsoft!), and let's keep each other posted on any developments that we learn of.  Thanks, Community!  Regards, ibiwisi

My MS Watchlist started working today. It had been frozen on the default watchlist since DEC 22. Now I can access all of my watchlists and tabs and I can access all of my transaction history. Thank you microsoft.

In order for Watchlist to be useful for me I need to be able to see all of my holdings on one screen with a total for the whole portlolio and a way to print that screen. I will continue to update my watchlist in the hope that MS will improve the functionality but will use Sigfig for daily monitoring. Unfortunately that is double work for me.

A quick update to our Community of Disgruntled Users:  I have been in touch with Financial Times's Customer Service team.  I have suggested to them that, with relatively little work on their side, they can upgrade their current portfolio manager to emulate all of the functions that we've come to know and love in the dearly Departed MSN Portfolio Manager.  FT has offered to call me to discuss my ideas in real time, and I'm hoping to schedule this call for some time this week.  I'll keep you posted on developments.

I would urge *all* of you to contact the Financial Times.  If we can show them sufficient demand, they will quickly see the cost-benefit of taking Microsoft's place as the best-of-breed portfolio manager on the Internet.

By the way, I have also urged FT to consider running a news article on the recent fiasco here in Microsoft Money-land.  I've pitched them that such an article would appeal to many people who either manage their own investments, are interested in Microsoft's activities, or both.  If you agree with my line of thinking, I would urge each of you to reach out to FT and express your interest in such an article. Again, if they see high demand, the chances improve that they'll follow up on this issue.  Some public exposure might be the only thing that can possibly move Microsoft to address our concerns.

As I've expressed in numerous earlier posts, I would very much prefer to discuss my concerns with Microsoft rather than with FT.  But Microsoft has been consistently unresponsive, and to date they have failed/refused to engage with us.   I renew my sincere appeal to Microsoft management:  If you're listening, PLEASE either disinter the beloved Portfolio Manager, or, at least, explain to us why you can't/won't do so.

As i said earlier, I selected the "dont include dividends" option in FT.com and dividends no longer appear in my portfolios.  I have only a mutual fund outside my tax deferred tax accounts that reinvests dividends.  For that holding, I do a manual purchase in FT.com each month to record the stock acquired by the reinvested dividends.  Also, I cant compare the dividends in FT.com with my brokerage account because I dont have any stock holdings that reinvest dividends.  Sorry, I cant help you.

Perhaps, send an email to ******@ft.com and ask them?

I gave a quick look at Morningstar, Google and Yahoo and I dont think they offer a dividend reinvestment option.

Also, if youre not afraid to link to your brokerage accounts, have you looked at Personal Capital?

The calculated daily value change drops off the website pretty early on FT.com.  Maybe because FT.com is based in Britain?  I think around 9pm on the west coast zeros start to appear in the daily value change column.  On the east coast its probably not an issue.  Also, once the daily value drops off, it doesnt come back until the next trading day, which means no daily change values over the weekend.  Which is not good.  However, the cumlative gain or loss does not drop off and you have the option to see returns for various time periods such as 5 day, one month, 3 months etc.

For me, FT is alot better than Morningstar, especially since i have many portfolios and want to see how they are doing on a summary page (the desktop).  I have spent more time with FT.com and I find it simpler than Morningstar.  So give more time to both and see which one you like?
