black screen during calling with the lumia 930

I just received the lumia 930 a few days ago. Perfect device however every time I want to make a call the screen goes black. I had a lumia 920 without this problem. Is there a solution? (without blowing the dust, restoring to factory settings or bringing the device back to the store?). This is such a devastating problem as it is almost impossible to just answer the phone. A have no protective cover etc.

Final Update.

The shop replaced my Nokia 930 with a new one.

In the shop we found out that the screen in the sensor area was wobbly. LIkely that this was the defect that triggered the proximity sensor.

So, if you have issues with proximity sensor, there is one option only... go to service.

    Yeah, I'm running into the same issue. Bought this phone last Sunday and everytime I call, I have to wait until the other person hangs up. Or I just furiously press the Sleep/Power button thinking that will help. Do you reckon it's a design fault or a software/firmware issue?

    Hi,

    I just purchased a Nokia 930. It also has the issue that proximity sensor does not work properly and the screen is black during a phone call. If I clean the area on top of the phone (above Nokia logo) then I get a few seconds of screen on so that at least I can end the call.

    Browsing the Internet it seems that this is a problem which still affects all Lumia phones. Old and new ones. Reasons I could find so far: dust in the sensor (can that be the case for a new phone??), too sensitive sensor, dirty glass. I personally believe that it is a combination of firmware-sensor-OS.

    Nokia people, are you aware of these issues? Any plans to address them? How about starting with a simple patch to allow disabling this sensor? It is outrageous that you buy a phone which you cannot use it as a phone.

    I hope that someone from Nokia will read this post...

    I find this a perinial desin flaw in all lumia's I had a 920 which was plauged by the same defect & Nokia repaired this thrice since the phone was in warrenty but the warenty has expired & I have kep the phone as is.

    I was at the Nokia store yesterday & I was shocked to see a customer walk in with the same issue with his 930(I too have bought a 930 WHITE). I was admiring his 930 Black but he was in the store complaining about the proximity sensor issue.

    I hope not to land into this trouble.

    If you're not using any type of cover or screen protector it sounds like an issue with the proximity sensor so yes, a return is warranted here..
