    Gerry Hi,

    Hardware Reserved                         779 MB

    In Use                                             1918 MB

    Modified                                            62 MB

    Standby                                           1125 MB

    Free                                                    210 MB

This time the install did not "hang" it went straight to FAILURE

Also all of the current crop of Windows Updates (important) FAILED

Perhaps its nearing the time for a clean install  ?

    Chris

    Free   5

    Does not impress.

In Windows 7 use Ctrl+Shift+Esc rather than Ctrl+Alt+Del. It gets you to Task Manager quicker. Select Task Manager, the Performance tab, Resource Monitor, and Memory tab. What are the figures for Hardware Reserved, In Use, Modified, Standby and Free?

Also click the CPU tab. What processes are generating the usage?

The above figures did not transmit to you.  The details are:

    Physical Memory (Mb)

    Total     3317

    Cached  1378

    Available  1325

    Free   5

    CPU Usage display       around 50%

    Memory display  1.95gb

    Anything else to help

Hi Gerry,   I cannot see anything of concern:  Under Applications states "Download and Instal Updates" - running

    Applications-Cannot see anything of concern

The attached CPU pic. is typical and the physical memory looks OK
