Missing Network Settings - "Find Devices and Content"

Windows 8.1 -Under all my various network adapters there is no  "Find Devices and Content" box.

I've tried various fixes. Changing homegroup etc. Nothing work.

Please provide some guidance

I am not sure if everyone is checking at the right place if they are connected to domain network and they have 8.1 because only 8.1 has this option. Windows 8 has a different way to share devices and content.

I have been using Windows since forever and have used Apple too, so switching to Mac / Apple is not going to help. Its just another OS with the same fundamentals. Go figure it out in a Apple store if you want a demo.

    Richard, for the life of me I can't figure this out either. I read through this entire thread and there appears to be no solutions. Anyone find one?

    I'm running Windows 8.1 on a Toshiba Satellite laptop with an Apple Airport Router connected via WiFi.

    Here's how I got mine to work. 

    1. Mouse over to the bottom-right corner and make the "charms" show up (oh, how I loathe that word).
    2. Click "Settings"
    3. Click "Control Panel"
    4. Click "Network and Internet"
    5. Click "Choose Homegroup and Sharing Options" (I have yet to figure out how to set an existing network location to Private)
    6. Click "Change Advanced Sharing Settings"
    7. Click "Turn on media streaming"

    1. Click on the arrow next to "All Networks" to expand it (on my PC it's the third set of options)

    1. Under "Media Streaming" click "Choose Media Streaming Options"

    1. Select "Show devices on..." and select "Local Network" from the dropdown menu. I have two options, you may have more. 

    1. Click "Allow All"

    1. Click "OK"

    After I did all these steps, my PC finally showed up on my networked Sony Blu Ray player as a DLNA server.

    I hope this works for everyone

    Following these steps, I get to the right screen that allows me to set a quota for the network connection, but the Find Devices item, which should be at the top of that screen, is missing.

    Can I delete the network completely and then re-add it? I can't seem to get it to give me that original option (do you want this to share etc) if I simply disconnect and reconnect from the same wireless access point.

    Is there something I'm missing in order to get that first option to appear on the screen?
