Missing Network Settings - "Find Devices and Content"

Windows 8.1 -Under all my various network adapters there is no  "Find Devices and Content" box.

I've tried various fixes. Changing homegroup etc. Nothing work.

Please provide some guidance

I am not sure if everyone is checking at the right place if they are connected to domain network and they have 8.1 because only 8.1 has this option. Windows 8 has a different way to share devices and content.

I have been using Windows since forever and have used Apple too, so switching to Mac / Apple is not going to help. Its just another OS with the same fundamentals. Go figure it out in a Apple store if you want a demo.

    Same problem.  One of many areas where MS techs genuinely try to be helpful but aren't.  I could make Windows 7 dance.  If I need to memorize an entirely new operating system maybe it is time to switch to Apple.  I need two new computers that I have been holding off om trying to get comfortable with Windows 8.  I'm trying not to be a hater....

    Hi Richard,

    I would suggest you to check if the issue occurs in a different user account (administrator) or not.

    To create a new User Account, refer to the articles and check if it helps.

    Create a user account

    If the issue does not exist in new user account, you may have corrupted user profile. You may follow the steps to troubleshoot a corrupted profile.

    a) Press Windows and x together and select Windows Explorer.

    b) Click on View tab and Click on Options at the top right corner.

    c) Click the View tab, and then click Show hidden files, folders, and drives.

    d)Uncheck the box which states **Hide protected operating system files.**e) Click Yes to confirm, and then click OK.

    f) Locate the C:\Users\Old_Username folder, where C is the drive that Windows is installed on, and Old Username is the name of the profile you want to copy files from.

    g)Select all of the files and folders in this folder, exceptthe following files:

    •Ntuser.dat •Ntuser.dat.log •Ntuser.ini

    h) Right-click****and Select Copy.

    i) Locate the C:\Users\New_Username folder, where C is the drive that Windows is installed on, and New Username is the name of the new user profile you created.

    j) Right-click****inside the folder and select Paste.

    k) Restart****your PC and check if you are able to log in to default profile.

    I have the same problem in my Personal Surface Pro, it is not in a domain and I don`t have a domain controller in my house, just my wi-fi router and another notebook.
