Missing Network Settings - "Find Devices and Content"

Windows 8.1 -Under all my various network adapters there is no  "Find Devices and Content" box.

I've tried various fixes. Changing homegroup etc. Nothing work.

Please provide some guidance

I am not sure if everyone is checking at the right place if they are connected to domain network and they have 8.1 because only 8.1 has this option. Windows 8 has a different way to share devices and content.

I have been using Windows since forever and have used Apple too, so switching to Mac / Apple is not going to help. Its just another OS with the same fundamentals. Go figure it out in a Apple store if you want a demo.

    I only have one account. It says:

      Local Account

      Administrator

    Does that mean you have UAC turned off?  That may be a problem.

    FWIW I just checked my Surface RT case (where I first noticed the difference--back a page) and found that I also have an Administrator account which is inactive.  So, presumably that is what gets used when I get prompted for Admin authority when using my other accounts.  In any case,  net user  shows that the account that I would use to see the feature you want is the only one besides the Administrator which has Administrators listed under Local Group Memberships.  I could not use Administrator as an account to do what you want because it can not get into MUF Settings.

    So, try creating a new account which gets put in the Administrators Local Group and see if it works any better?

    BTW are you sure that you are following the whole convoluted path to find this feature?  I had to refer back to the "instructions" (such as they are) to remind myself where it was.  Otherwise there was no Help in Search Settings  (Win-w) to get to it.

    Another usability issue I had while testing this was trying to figure out which account was which so I could use  net user  for it.  In the end I used  %UserName%  which didn't seem very satisfying but got the job done.  So on the RT which surprisingly has that environment variable but not one for Path you could check this way:

    C:\Windows\System32>**net user %UserName% find /i "Memberships"**

    Or just use that bolded pipeline if you do have a path which finds net.exe and find.exe there.  (The RT does have a PathExt environment variable thankfully, so I don't need to enter the .exe file extensions.  <w>)

    I have the same issue.  I've been able to both change my networks to "private" (which they should've been to begin with) and update my registry keys.  Still can't see the "find devices and content" slider.  What's it take to get MS to respond to this?
