I've tried various fixes. Changing homegroup etc. Nothing work.

Please provide some guidance

I am not sure if everyone is checking at the right place if they are connected to domain network and they have 8.1 because only 8.1 has this option. Windows 8 has a different way to share devices and content.

For chromecast troubleshooting:

Where to find the option to share:

I have been using Windows since forever and have used Apple too, so switching to Mac / Apple is not going to help. Its just another OS with the same fundamentals. Go figure it out in a Apple store if you want a demo.

Has this issue been solved. I can see that the discussion dates back to the beginning of 2014. I have the problem now but it doesn't seem to have a solution. Steen

    I too have this issue.

    • No work laptop
    • Not in a domain
    • I have administrator rights

Please help me, how can I enable the "Find content and devices" slider? I've searched throughout the internet for the past few days, and have been unable to find a solution, merely workarounds.

Please Microsoft, explain us why your "Find content and devices" slider goes missing and how we can re-enable it.

I'm having the same issue. The 'Find content and devices slider' has VANISHED. I've tried every workaround and/or repair suggested on every website I can find, but nothing has worked. The last recommendation was to do a factory system recovery, which I'd prefer not to do.

HOW DO YOU GET A MICROSOFT REP TO ACTUALLY REPLY TO THIS THREAD???

    am using an administrator account.

Did you notice my finding that there is a difference between using the owner account and another administrator account?

I only have one account. It says:

      Local Account

      Administrator
