Missing Network Settings - "Find Devices and Content"

Windows 8.1 -Under all my various network adapters there is no  "Find Devices and Content" box.

I've tried various fixes. Changing homegroup etc. Nothing work.

Please provide some guidance

I am not sure if everyone is checking at the right place if they are connected to domain network and they have 8.1 because only 8.1 has this option. Windows 8 has a different way to share devices and content.

I have been using Windows since forever and have used Apple too, so switching to Mac / Apple is not going to help. Its just another OS with the same fundamentals. Go figure it out in a Apple store if you want a demo.

    i finally found the solution

    goto Control Panel\All Control Panel Items\Troubleshooting\Network and Internet

    and select homegroup , then skip network troubleshoot and it will ask that changing to private network will solve and apply the fix :)

    I'm running Windows 8.1 on a Toshiba Satellite laptop with an Apple Airport Router connected via WiFi.

    Here's how I got mine to work. 

    1. Mouse over to the bottom-right corner and make the "charms" show up (oh, how I loathe that word).
    2. Click "Settings"
    3. Click "Control Panel"
    4. Click "Network and Internet"
    5. Click "Choose Homegroup and Sharing Options" (I have yet to figure out how to set an existing network location to Private)
    6. Click "Change Advanced Sharing Settings"
    7. Click "Turn on media streaming"

    1. Click on the arrow next to "All Networks" to expand it (on my PC it's the third set of options)

    1. Under "Media Streaming" click "Choose Media Streaming Options"

    1. Select "Show devices on..." and select "Local Network" from the dropdown menu. I have two options, you may have more. 

    1. Click "Allow All"

    1. Click "OK"

    After I did all these steps, my PC finally showed up on my networked Sony Blu Ray player as a DLNA server.

    After reading all 9 pages of posts leading up to here, marcocnl had the answer.

    Follow the link listed in in his post (https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/gg252535(v=ws.10).aspx)

    The key NwCategoryWizard key didn't exist for me either, but the NewNetworkWindowOff key did.

    Found here:

    HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\Network\NewNetworkWindowOff

    After reading that it's mere, unconfigured presence is all it takes to disable the Network Location Wizard I deleted the whole key.

    I told my laptop to forget the wireless network and reconnected now "Find devices and content" is back!

    I am NOT connected to a domain netIwork.

    I am NOT using a work laptop.

    My computer is in a Homegroup.

    WHEN I DO THE FOLLOWING:

       Swipe in from the right edge of the screen, tap Settings, and then tap Change PC settings.

        Click Settings, and then click Change PC settings.)

        Click Network, tap or click Connections, and then click your network connection.

    THERE IS NO "Find devices and content."

    ONLY 2 things are there:

         Data Usage

         Properties

    So I cant turn on or off "Find device and content" because it doesn't appear.
