How to disable top bar for closing apps in windows 8.1 update 1?

Explain what "Win8.1 way of working" you want that I haven't, already, tried to address or tell you is possible.

I know some people have voiced they want Live Tiles on the Desktop.

What is it you want? 

And no, I am not disagreeing w/ anything.  I've been trying, really, hard w/ you.

If they are only for the majority why give options for some elements they added but not others

In update one I can turn off apps on the taskbar, get rid of taskbar from the apps screens but yet I cannot get rid of a pointless top bar because some users cannot work out how to close apps (which you do not even need to close anyway, the OS will fully shut them down if needed)

but thanks for confirming my point, waste of time giving any feedback to MS about windows unless its what the majority want

yes there is more options now for apps when they run on the desktop, why not give an option of how they run, could provide feedback but what is the point, majority want them on the desktop so that is what will happen

but could you please enlighten me on how win 10 can work the same as 8.1 for those that want it, don't say configure it for the start screen instead of start menu as this does not do it

People want things, Microsoft hears or listens to the requests & responds then, (other) people complain about what was added or given.  It's a matter of it being impossible to please everyone all the time.  Nobody is trying to "stick it" to anyone.  But, it will never be possible to please everyone.  You don't need to hit Shift... just wait a brief moment & the bar disappears.

Surely the answer is to give people options, those that wanted this bar are happy now because its there, if it had been an option then those that don't want it would be happy also

The bar is still there in 10 and apps now run on the desktop, which is even uglier than they currently are with this bar in 8

I am hoping MS will listen to feedback about such things, but from what i have seen they only listen to feedback from the majority, so if you like how the 8 series works you could be out of look when windows 10 comes out

Come on, man, be serious... think what you are saying.  Windows Operating systems are used by billions of people & heaps of businesses all across the globe.  Of course it is the voice of the majority.  These OSs are built for the whole world not, individuals.  And one thing that can be said about Windows is how much it can be personalized and customized.  Geeesz, be glad you don't have a Mac, in that regard.

I wish I understood what is supposed to be so horrible about a wee control bar on the APPs, anyway.  And, now, you want to tell me APPs in 10 are "uglier" than in 8.1... say what???!!  They only run Full Screen in 8.1; except, until or unless they are snapped and you can do as much w/ Snap in 8.1 as you can in 10.  But, aside for Snap... the  APPs can, now, 'float', be placed wherever one wants AND sized... there's a hell of a lot more flexibility & maneuverability than ever before AND they open and can be handled just like regular windows explorer windows.  How the hell can you call that "ugly"?   But, on the other hand you can, STILL, run them Full Screen if you want, same as 8.1 & snap them into the same positioning as in 8.1, "if that's what you like".  Ergo, I, try as I may, really, can't see your point.

People who like the ways of 8.1 can, still, have those ways.

So here I am looking for the same solution as the people above me. I use Chrome in Modern UI mode cause it's what I was looking for: fullscreen experience with address/bookmark bar at one quick mouse swipe. Yet there's that forementioned black title bar appearing. Would be great to see it disappear.

And to the MVP person that responded "Microsoft never thought of it" - ok, the question is, is it important how people feel and use the item in practice? There's quite a demand for this feature and this is how you develop stuff in the modern way: you stick to the end user, understand his needs and do it so that he gets the best experience possible. I understand if you can't implement it due to technical or time constraints, yet negating the feedback/request by saying "Microsoft never thought of it" (which equals to me to "this is how you're supposed to use it, stop complaining") is pure ignorance.

**There's a semi solution for keyboard users: whenever you see the title bar, press shift.**So there's also a possible way to get around the problem: identify the trigger that makes the title bar appear then simulate pressing shift.

Ok, 1st of all I didn't not make such a comment.  But, I'll explain something.  That bar you are complaining about was added in 8.1 because many End Users were asking for an easier, convenient, more familiar way to close or minimize Store APPs than managing them via the Switcher Bar.  That Bar will disappear all by itself after opening an APP if one just sits still after opening an APP for a moment and it will only reappear if one 'pokes' @ the top edge of the APP.  It is, still, there in Windows 10 but, it is fixed (stationary above the top edge but, not creeping onto the top portion of the APP.
