Which one do you uninstall? There are about 10 on my machine.
runtime error microsoft visual c++ explorer.exe
Error message "runtime error microsoft visual c++ explorer.exe" comes up randomly. Is there any way of preventing this or fixing it?

2015-12-30T14:56:11+00:00 This lead me to my resolution of the problem. I uninstalled all my C++ packages and reinstalled them and the problem is solved and the search is as quick as it should be. No more crashes!!!!

Any time I open an archive, turns up: Runtime Error
it indicates on
Program: C:/Windows/explorer.ex.
It indicates further: The application has requested the Runtime to terminate in an unusual way.
Please contact the application's support team for more information.
Herewith I'm seeking help, to enable mi to eradicate this troubling interference.

2015-05-01T19:05:49+00:00 My issue is finally resolved too. My mistake was to reinstall or do repair, but needed to fully remove the runtimes first. Here is a screenshot again with all the runtimes from same day. And have not had this problem ever since.
You can see that the version numbers have NOT changed. However the size of the runtime has !!

2015-04-27T04:04:52+00:00 Thank you Adeian. OK this is what I have done today, My visual studios were vanilla, so I have installed VS2008 SP1 and VS2012 upd 4, in addition to running windows update several times. I have also updated all the VC++ run times to the latest following this link:

I also got rid of the older ones. So here is how it looks now:
Unfortunately none of these has helped. I still get msvcrt.dll in system32 folder to throw a runtime error. Looking at the dll, it is of a much older version, and I can't touch it as it is used by windows:
