Dell Venue Pro loses wireless connection after installing Windows Updates

The Dell Venue 8 Pro and Dell Venue 11 Pro lost all wireless connectivity after installing either Windows Update**KB 2887595** or**KB 2903939**.

How can I get my WiFi back?

Hi,

This issue may occur if specific Windows Updates are not installed in the proper order. Microsoft has made a change to prevent further customers from getting into this state.  Customers must now have a pre-requisite update (KB 2883200) installed before being offered these updates. 

To restore wireless connectivity:

1.     Uninstall all of the following updates:

·         KB 2887595 – Windows RT 8.1, Windows 8.1, and Windows Server 2012 R2 update rollup: November 2013

·         KB 2903939 – Windows RT 8.1, Windows 8.1, and Windows Server 2012 R2 update rollup: December 2013

To uninstall an update, go to the Control Panel and select Programs.  Then, under Programs and Features, select View installed updates.  Select the updates listed above and click Uninstall.  If you’re prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.

2.     Install the updates listed below.  When you run Windows Update, the updates will now automatically be installed in the proper order.  You must restart the computer after you apply each update.

·        Install KB 2883200. 

·        Install KB 2887595 and KB 2903939.

    So a clean install of Windows 10 later and it lasted a bit under 10 minutes from it giving me the reins.

    Went and updated to the WiFi driver from the Dell site which says it's Windows 10 compatible (didn't do this manually before, although Windows Update might've); gave me a further 30 minutes after the restart.

    I'm over it.

    Wow that really sucks. It sounds like your machine might have hardware issues. Does it just flat out shut off? Or do the whole shutdown process?

    Mines been okay. But battery life is **** under 10. Though to be fair I noticed it got slightly worse on 8.1 these past few months. Battery's probably on its way out after only a year lol, Dell, never again.

    I mean I'd let that pass on a Toshiba because they're "practical" and very economically priced. But Dell.. kinda expected better

    Hi,

    A client of mine updated to Windows 10 on his Dell Venue 11 tablet and it worked for a while but now the network keeps loosing Internet connectivity. As far as I can tell this is a power management issue with Wireless when the battery drops below 30 to 25%, but guess what power management is not available for the wireless devices on the Dell Venue 11 under Windows 10. Why in the world would this be removed, I have no way to fix the issue.

    I have the latest BIOS, Network, and video drivers but still no fix??
