Dell Venue Pro loses wireless connection after installing Windows Updates

The Dell Venue 8 Pro and Dell Venue 11 Pro lost all wireless connectivity after installing either Windows Update**KB 2887595** or**KB 2903939**.

How can I get my WiFi back?

Hi,

This issue may occur if specific Windows Updates are not installed in the proper order. Microsoft has made a change to prevent further customers from getting into this state.  Customers must now have a pre-requisite update (KB 2883200) installed before being offered these updates. 

To restore wireless connectivity:

1.     Uninstall all of the following updates:

·         KB 2887595 – Windows RT 8.1, Windows 8.1, and Windows Server 2012 R2 update rollup: November 2013

·         KB 2903939 – Windows RT 8.1, Windows 8.1, and Windows Server 2012 R2 update rollup: December 2013

To uninstall an update, go to the Control Panel and select Programs.  Then, under Programs and Features, select View installed updates.  Select the updates listed above and click Uninstall.  If you’re prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.

2.     Install the updates listed below.  When you run Windows Update, the updates will now automatically be installed in the proper order.  You must restart the computer after you apply each update.

·        Install KB 2883200. 

·        Install KB 2887595 and KB 2903939.

    Groovy. Can't wait. I haven't started mine up in a few days. However, I have written detailed instructions for myself that take a few seconds to implement so I can get on with my life. Uninstalling the wireless card is the only--ONLY--thing that has worked the numerous times this has happened.

    God help us keep our tempers in check.

    Got my Windows 10 update, seemed dandy for a couple of hours but disaster just struck.

    I love the feeling of being left out in the cold. Oh well, at least Windows 10 is nice to use during the intervals between restarts. Thanks Microsoft.

    EDIT: Oh dear. Thought I'd look at retrying some of the fixes listed earlier. I should have predicted it but the problem updates are not even installed updates now, they're baked in to the operating system. Wonderful.

    Did you try doing a clean install after installing it?

    I haven't had any problems so far.

    Just... tablet mode and the whole Win10 experience really sucks compared to 8.1

    Will give it a crack now, cheers.

    Personally I tended to use this thing in desktop mode out of habit and I find that experience a bit better than Windows 8.1. That said, I'm staggered that they've somehow been able to make the control panel and PC settings array even more of a catastrophe than in 8.1.
