Dell Venue Pro loses wireless connection after installing Windows Updates

The Dell Venue 8 Pro and Dell Venue 11 Pro lost all wireless connectivity after installing either Windows Update**KB 2887595** or**KB 2903939**.

How can I get my WiFi back?

Hi,

This issue may occur if specific Windows Updates are not installed in the proper order. Microsoft has made a change to prevent further customers from getting into this state.  Customers must now have a pre-requisite update (KB 2883200) installed before being offered these updates. 

To restore wireless connectivity:

1.     Uninstall all of the following updates:

·         KB 2887595 – Windows RT 8.1, Windows 8.1, and Windows Server 2012 R2 update rollup: November 2013

·         KB 2903939 – Windows RT 8.1, Windows 8.1, and Windows Server 2012 R2 update rollup: December 2013

To uninstall an update, go to the Control Panel and select Programs.  Then, under Programs and Features, select View installed updates.  Select the updates listed above and click Uninstall.  If you’re prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.

2.     Install the updates listed below.  When you run Windows Update, the updates will now automatically be installed in the proper order.  You must restart the computer after you apply each update.

·        Install KB 2883200. 

·        Install KB 2887595 and KB 2903939.

    I think it is, I have same on my 8 pro, can you let me know how to deactivate and reactivate the adapter as mine just died after the first standby (I got the tablet an hour ago and already it has died). Thanks!

    I have the Dell Venue 11 pro. A very nice tablet but WIFI often needs to be reanimated by deactivating and reactivating the wlan network adapter, especially after some time in standby.

    Is this problem also related to the one discussed here?

    I found out what the problem was in my case.

    WIFI/WLAN was automatically turned of at night by my FritzBox router and then, in the morning, turned on again (night circuit / Nachtschaltung). And this somehow messed up the Dell Venue 11 Pro WIFI controller. When I disable night circuit for WLAN in the router, the WIFI adapter stays stable/functional even after a long tablet standby period.

    blame MS for this but I imagine its a combination of the updates and bad drivers that's causing this..   so the problem is threefold, MS rectifying their update, in conjunction with Dell who makes the Venue and their 3rd party hardware source that supplies the WiFi NIC and its reference driver..

    nobody's perfect when you are not 100% vertical like Apple..   MS doesn't make every piece in the chain.. device, drivers, etc., that is why you have so many choices when it comes to tablets.   My Surface had this same issue when I first got it, but it got resolved in a later update to the Surface drivers, because in that case MS controlled it from top to bottom (for the most part) heheh..

    Like you, I installed all the Dell updates. I like my Dell Venue Pro 8 and I'm keeping it; eventually the bugs will get worked out and I can always find a work around and like you said, " this is not a consumer product, more of an enthusiast experiment." 

    Consumers should not have to go through the trouble to correct this error! 

    I also have an Asus T100 32GB that runs like a dream and without any problems whatsoever, dang thing even came with a detachable keyboard, but I find the 8" form factor better to haul around when traveling than a 10" and 7" just don't cut it for me :)
