Dell Venue Pro loses wireless connection after installing Windows Updates

The Dell Venue 8 Pro and Dell Venue 11 Pro lost all wireless connectivity after installing either Windows Update**KB 2887595** or**KB 2903939**.

How can I get my WiFi back?

Hi,

This issue may occur if specific Windows Updates are not installed in the proper order. Microsoft has made a change to prevent further customers from getting into this state.  Customers must now have a pre-requisite update (KB 2883200) installed before being offered these updates. 

To restore wireless connectivity:

1.     Uninstall all of the following updates:

·         KB 2887595 – Windows RT 8.1, Windows 8.1, and Windows Server 2012 R2 update rollup: November 2013

·         KB 2903939 – Windows RT 8.1, Windows 8.1, and Windows Server 2012 R2 update rollup: December 2013

To uninstall an update, go to the Control Panel and select Programs.  Then, under Programs and Features, select View installed updates.  Select the updates listed above and click Uninstall.  If you’re prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.

2.     Install the updates listed below.  When you run Windows Update, the updates will now automatically be installed in the proper order.  You must restart the computer after you apply each update.

·        Install KB 2883200. 

·        Install KB 2887595 and KB 2903939.

    Try shutting down using the windows 8.1 start button shutdown instead of the settings charm. It seems to provide a workaround.

    After a couple of days experimenting, I am able to control whether or not the WiFi goes into Limited connection when the Venue has been shut down.

    If I shutdown the unit through the Charms menu, it will not reconnect to my wifi when powering on.

    BUT, if I shutdown using the "Start" button menu, the Venue will connect completely to the router even if the tablet has been off over night and NOT plugged into the charger. It also works if the Venue was plugged in.

    Why should there be this difference and does this constitute a valid workaround for the WiFi issue?

    Charm and "start menu" are the same... o_0 That doesnt make sense what you wrote. Also, what do you mean by shutting down? Hibernate? Complete off? You should disable hibernate (powercfg -h off) and just use the "connected standy" mode, my Venue has a battery discharge rate of 0.37% per hour in connected standby mode, and that's good for me.

    Also, Ive tested into this problem again, and it's totally clear for me: It is working without any problem with 2,4ghz b/g mode. And the problem just happens with N mode, both 2,4ghz and 5ghz. If you set your router to just use b/g mode (55mb/s), it stays stable. If you activate N mode, the Venue becomes instable at some point (limited connectivity aka no internet, but it is still connected to the router).

    I never shutdown my Dell Venue 11 Pro and still the wifi is randomly broken next morning.
