Hi,

This issue may occur if specific Windows Updates are not installed in the proper order. Microsoft has made a change to prevent further customers from getting into this state.  Customers must now have a pre-requisite update (KB 2883200) installed before being offered these updates.

To restore wireless connectivity:

1.     Uninstall all of the following updates:

·         KB 2887595 – Windows RT 8.1, Windows 8.1, and Windows Server 2012 R2 update rollup: November 2013

·         KB 2903939 – Windows RT 8.1, Windows 8.1, and Windows Server 2012 R2 update rollup: December 2013

To uninstall an update, go to the Control Panel and select Programs.  Then, under Programs and Features, select View installed updates.  Select the updates listed above and click Uninstall.  If you’re prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.

2.     Install the updates listed below.  When you run Windows Update, the updates will now automatically be installed in the proper order.  You must restart the computer after you apply each update.

·        Install KB 2883200

·        Install KB 2887595 and KB 2903939.

Working backup of or on this tablet?

I've used Macrium Plus to make useable backups that can be moved to a different system, which appears to be the most reliable way to resolve the issues and get back to work.

I'm not getting limited. I'm getting a Network adapter that won't load. Already reinstalled it and updated it several times.

Contact your ISP. Limited means you can access the network, but not the internet.

Tried talking to Dell one more time. Actually showed them the links here, on Windows and other tech forums, on their own forums, all full of people trying to solve this problem. They just gave me the same spiel about "understanding my frustration" but saying nothing about helping out with suggestions for solving the problem. I think it's a massive disaster of a problem that they can't be bothered to task anyone to fix anymore. I've done all these updates, uninstalled them, reinstalled them, etc etc. The WiFi thing keeps coming back. And this is a tablet that already went to them once while under warranty to have the logic board replaced. So, this is definitely a problem with the tablet's design as a whole in all versions. A few seem to work fine, some are forever faulty/buggy.

I just want to go to Windows 10. If this problem's not gonna go away, I'd rather at least be on Windows 10 to sync better with my other devices. Any suggestions on the best way to make a working backup on this tablet?
