Hi,

This issue may occur if specific Windows Updates are not installed in the proper order. Microsoft has made a change to prevent further customers from getting into this state.  Customers must now have a pre-requisite update (KB 2883200) installed before being offered these updates.

To restore wireless connectivity:

1.     Uninstall all of the following updates:

·         KB 2887595 – Windows RT 8.1, Windows 8.1, and Windows Server 2012 R2 update rollup: November 2013

·         KB 2903939 – Windows RT 8.1, Windows 8.1, and Windows Server 2012 R2 update rollup: December 2013

To uninstall an update, go to the Control Panel and select Programs.  Then, under Programs and Features, select View installed updates.  Select the updates listed above and click Uninstall.  If you’re prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.

2.     Install the updates listed below.  When you run Windows Update, the updates will now automatically be installed in the proper order.  You must restart the computer after you apply each update.

·        Install KB 2883200

·        Install KB 2887595 and KB 2903939.

....So, I don't know how to even get an update installed like Akbar suggests below. Any other suggestions?

*Edit: Finally gave the heck up and uninstalled the Dell Wireless thing and hard rebooted out of sheer desperation. Fixed.

Go to the Dell site, Go to Support, Support for home, then Detect my product.  Allow the download from the Dell support site to download, give it permission.  Then download the newer BIOS.  They are listed in order.  You will need to save the update to your desktop so you can find it. Once that is done, down load the other recommended updates and you should be in business.

Suggestion:  Reinstalling software doen't do anything but put you back to where you originally were, and you know from your own experience where that puts you.  Dell did a lousy job of testing the tablet before release in my opinion.  Put themselves and us through Hell.

    BIll

    Thanks William,

Gave it another chance and this fix finally worked.

The recent BIOS upgrade or running the firmware upgrade after doing the recent BIOS upgrade appears to have solved the problems.

The previous BIOS upgrade did not.

    Best,

I am a tech-less human and nothing except the bare skeleton of your post makes sense. I got to Double click and you lost me (mostly because a double click really needed to be a right click (long press since I don't use a mouse) on my device. I am far from dullwitted, but I really need my WiFi and my Dell won't show on This PC screen when I use the USB cord--So, I don't know how to even get an update installed like Akbar suggests below. Any other suggestions?
