Dell Venue 8 Pro - black screen after powering on or getting it out of sleep

I have a Dell Venue 8 Pro tablet. The screen of the 8 pro often doesnt turn on after pressing the power button (to get it out of sleep) or after pressing the windows button. Only the backlight turns on. 

Sometimes, after pressing the power button numerous times the screen turns on. (numerous = >50times)

Doenst matter if the battery is 100% or 10%.

The screen also doesnt turn on booting it up (after powering down).

Also when i press the power button + volume down immediately after (to enter the bios), it shows a black screen with backlight on.

I have installed teamviewer on the 8 pro and i have logged on with my laptop 3 times while having a black screen on the 8 pro.

The strange thing is, when viewing the 8 pro's screen with teamviewer, i can see the touch screen of the 8 pro is still functioning. See this video i made:

Each time i watched the system event log, and saw warnings like:

'a pointer device did not report a valid unit of angular measurement'

'a pointer device reported a bad angular physical range'

'a pointer device reported a bad angular logical range'

I have installed all the laters Dell drivers and flashed the Bios (also from Dell). Also i installed the latest windows 8.1 updates.

I have rolled back the installed Intel graphic drivers to standard microsoft drivers, but also with the standard drivers the screen occasionally wont turn on.

This device is rather new. What can i do to fix this?

    I call that the "blank" screen and it is often associated with a phantom monitor scenario.  Do you have a second monitor you could hook up to see if that is the case?   Alternatively, do you have a keyboard you could hook up and use at this point?  If so you might see something by pressing Win-P, CursorUp, and Enter.   Even a wireless keyboard might help.  Of course, this is assuming that you don't use a lock screen where you would need to press Ctrl-Alt-Delete first after resuming from Sleep.   ; )

    Hi!

    Your phantom monitor approach sounded quite reasonable to me.

    So I just tried with the USB keyboard. Nothing happened. Did it often and variable scenarios like assuming lockscreen is on.

    Nothing.

    And your mouse pointer could move over the blank screen?   If so, take note of which side it comes out of because that would be where the phantom monitor would be.

    Unfortunately it has nothing to do with a phantom monitor.

    I have installed teamviewer in my 8 pro, when logging into the teamviewer account with my iPad (or Dell laptop or work computer), i can access the 8 pro. Also the touch of the 8 pro is working normally, just the screen is blank.

    That could still be consistent with the hypothesis.  Originally on W7 I had my Tablet as my secondary screen and in some cases would be able to use Touch on it to control parts of the primary (non-touch) display.   Once I switched my Tablet to being my primary screen that quirk stopped happening.  

    So, if the "primary" display is on the phantom and being seen by the RD it could be affected by the only screen which is Touch sensitive.  And it could also explain why you get some discrepancies reported in the Event log.   <eg>
