Considering all the negative feedback, and the fact that so many people downgraded to WIn10, I thought they would have stopped forcing the downgrade.
I actually tried to downgrade last December, and it failed. I figure I'll try again around 2020 when they pull the rug out from under Win7 -- I was told that the attempt would lock in my "free" downgrade. I had saved an image of my PC in case I had to blow everything away and restore Win7 and half expected to need it, but since the downgrade failed, they (Dell likely, maybe Microsoft) said I would have to work with them for a long time, I just declined.
I had done what I needed -- lock in the free downgrade. But if they're going to attempt it without my permission, I need to stop it, and I think the GWX Control Panel should still work. (I had stopped it when they said they stopped tricking us into downgrading.) Interesting; it's been stopped all year and there are no updates; I hope it still works.
