What exactly does KB2952664 do?

KB2952664 was published on April 22, 2014 and appears in my Windows Update List (I am running Windows 7 Pro - 64 bit).

The description of this update is vague:  "This update helps Microsoft make improvements to the current operating system in order to ease the upgrade experience to the latest version of Windows."

Anyone have more information on what this update actually does? If its sole purpose is to ease the "upgrade" from Windows 7 to Windows 8 (or 8.1 or 8.1 update), then I'll just permanently hide KB2952664 (I have no desire or intention to "upgrade" my Windows 7 system to any flavor of Windows 8).

If its purpose is to ease what would be a true Windows 7 upgrade to a yet-to-be-announced Windows 7 SP2, then I'll keep it (but still would like to have more information about what KB2952664 actually does before installing).

    Problem is that they're also extremely vulnerable to any hacks discovered and fixed in the last 10 months (and counting).

    I THINK they have security fixes on their own beyond that roll-up.  But you could be setting yourself up for massive liability WHEN some of your clients get hacked.  MAYBE microsoft would be included in the lawsuits (deeper pockets) for not fixing their security bugs without including their garbage, but that doesn't help you much.

    Security issues...

    Spying on what I am doing when and how well, is a secuity issue.

    But it should be separated distinctively from other people trying to hack my PC.

    It's is not likek M$ gathering information is less criminal than others doing it.

    But there is a big difference in the tools used.

    Flash - KB2952664 just re-appeared in my Windows Update.  When I install it it will be #34.

    Flash - KB2952664 just re-appeared in my Windows Update.  When I install it it will be #35.  I will hold off for a while, as AskWoody (IIRC) has said that MS is force-upgrading Win 7 machines to Win 10 without the owner's OK.

    You installed M$ software, so now it is their maschine.

    And they ofcourse need to know Who you are, when you use it, and for what.
