What exactly does KB2952664 do?

KB2952664 was published on April 22, 2014 and appears in my Windows Update List (I am running Windows 7 Pro - 64 bit).

The description of this update is vague:  "This update helps Microsoft make improvements to the current operating system in order to ease the upgrade experience to the latest version of Windows."

Anyone have more information on what this update actually does? If its sole purpose is to ease the "upgrade" from Windows 7 to Windows 8 (or 8.1 or 8.1 update), then I'll just permanently hide KB2952664 (I have no desire or intention to "upgrade" my Windows 7 system to any flavor of Windows 8).

If its purpose is to ease what would be a true Windows 7 upgrade to a yet-to-be-announced Windows 7 SP2, then I'll keep it (but still would like to have more information about what KB2952664 actually does before installing).

    Woody refers to  "Windows Update Analytics service" and reports the patch as being necessary for that.

    I'm pretty sure he meant "Windows Upgrade Analytics service".

    I think the only reason one would need the Windows Upgrade Analytics Service is to "upgrade" from Windows 7 (or 8) to Windows 10.

    I have no intention of ever "upgrading" my Windows 7 PC to Windows 10 .... so I do not need the Windows Upgrade Analytics Service, and I will hide KB2952664.

    Another related question - I decided  to un-hide all of the patches I had hidden.  Patch KB3150513 was un-hidden.  This, according to my notes, was Windows 10-related.  I assumed that when I did a new "Search for Updates" that MS would realize that that patch was obsolete and remove it from the available patch list.  But it did not do so.  I am wondering what would happen if I did install it.

    Breaking news - KB2952664 was re-released Friday or Saturday.  One article I just read did not know what new telemetry is in this update.I   have not hidden this update before, and I will install it (iteration #28) when my MSE weekly scan has completed.

    Breaking news - KB2952664 was re-released Friday or Saturday. 

     I'm confused - I thought that there are no more individual updates since they started the monthly roll-ups in October. (I haven't used Windows Update since then.) Has something changed recently?
