KB2952664 was published on April 22, 2014 and appears in my Windows Update List (I am running Windows 7 Pro - 64 bit).
The description of this update is vague: "This update helps Microsoft make improvements to the current operating system in order to ease the upgrade experience to the latest version of Windows."
Anyone have more information on what this update actually does? If its sole purpose is to ease the "upgrade" from Windows 7 to Windows 8 (or 8.1 or 8.1 update), then I'll just permanently hide KB2952664 (I have no desire or intention to "upgrade" my Windows 7 system to any flavor of Windows 8).
If its purpose is to ease what would be a true Windows 7 upgrade to a yet-to-be-announced Windows 7 SP2, then I'll keep it (but still would like to have more information about what KB2952664 actually does before installing).

Microsoft's stealth marketing strategy for Windows 10 is a de facto admission that they do not have enough confidence in the product to sell it on its own merits, even for free.
Their desperation they have shown in this is an indication that ultimately, it will be far from free.
I have uninstalled this update from every one of my 153 client computers and that has been about a year now. The answer to your question is simply..
NOTHING USEFUL, unless you want Windows 10, and if you do, it won't be there long
As more and more folks are waking up to find that they have been mysteriously "upgraded" to Windows 10, this is starting to attract the attention of mainstream media. If Microsoft does not change course soon, it may find that "full speed ahead" steers it straight to damage control.

They WILL stop... define soon. What is it, a month or two when the free upgrades allegedly will end, that's when it will stop.
They're also supposedly dropping support early for the skylake processors AFTER the fact. I had heard that they were going to not support new processors, but figured that either it had it or didn't. I bought a new computer, and now see that in about 18 months they will only provide the most critical updates, and only if it doesn't hurt other processors or something to that effect. Has me pretty annoyed. I made sure I was able to order this with Win7, and I just got it. It has a Win10 pro license and came already upgraded to WIn7. I figured that since Win7 was supported, I was good until 2020 or so. Now I'm not so sure. OTOH, I'm not sure I really want anything other than their security fixes anyway... I lost all respect and trust for them and their updates.
