What kind of improvements? Why is it causing workstations to use more CPU time and memory? Workstations are for users to work. Upgrading to other operating systems is usually not part of users' work load.

KB2952664 was published on April 22, 2014 and appears in my Windows Update List (I am running Windows 7 Pro - 64 bit).
The description of this update is vague: "This update helps Microsoft make improvements to the current operating system in order to ease the upgrade experience to the latest version of Windows."
Anyone have more information on what this update actually does? If its sole purpose is to ease the "upgrade" from Windows 7 to Windows 8 (or 8.1 or 8.1 update), then I'll just permanently hide KB2952664 (I have no desire or intention to "upgrade" my Windows 7 system to any flavor of Windows 8).
If its purpose is to ease what would be a true Windows 7 upgrade to a yet-to-be-announced Windows 7 SP2, then I'll keep it (but still would like to have more information about what KB2952664 actually does before installing).

https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/2952664 . It won't help with installing WIn10, though. If you have followed the little Windows flag in the Task Bar and filled it out, it will pop up and let you know it is downloaded and ready to install. I had the one of 4 PCs at home that I need to wait on installing for the next month be the first and only one to tell me it is ready. It is also the only "Home Edition" I have, so I don't think I can use it to upgrade my "Pro" OSes. If you look in the Windows Update history, you may see a failed KB that runs every day. When you get the alert that you have the file, you will be ready to go.

I saw (and installed) KB2922664 in Windows Update this afternoon for the 18th time.
Also appearing was KB3075851 (another Windows 7 update), and I see nothing in Google about it. I wish that MS would place documentation about a fix online BEFORE the fix is released.
