What exactly does KB2952664 do?

KB2952664 was published on April 22, 2014 and appears in my Windows Update List (I am running Windows 7 Pro - 64 bit).

The description of this update is vague:  "This update helps Microsoft make improvements to the current operating system in order to ease the upgrade experience to the latest version of Windows."

Anyone have more information on what this update actually does? If its sole purpose is to ease the "upgrade" from Windows 7 to Windows 8 (or 8.1 or 8.1 update), then I'll just permanently hide KB2952664 (I have no desire or intention to "upgrade" my Windows 7 system to any flavor of Windows 8).

If its purpose is to ease what would be a true Windows 7 upgrade to a yet-to-be-announced Windows 7 SP2, then I'll keep it (but still would like to have more information about what KB2952664 actually does before installing).

"Details are still being finalized, but on July 29th the Get Windows 10 app that facilitates the easy upgrade to Windows 10 will be disabled and eventually removed from PCs worldwide. Just as it took time to ramp up and roll out the Get Windows 10 app, it will take time to ramp it down."

Maybe the nightmare is finally ending.

Now I'm not sure if that means you need to apply yetta nother windows update and it will drop ALL the annoyware, and ALL the background downloads, and the tricking you into installing it.

I may finally get a new PC after that.  Two that I am interested in offer a free upgrade to WIn7 pro (well they claim that they ship it "downgraded" to Win7 with a free upgrade to WIn10 available, but we know that's backwards).

Reserving win-10 is the approval to download win-10 and yes that is UAC.

By your logic M$ might add "I don't know" as well :)

I agree 100%.  A "No" means no. 

My nephew was "tricked" into installing Windows 10 on his fairly recent Lenovo laptop.  Several things broke, like Bluetooth.  We were in driver **** without a paddle.  After spending hours with him trying to get everything working we managed to revert his machine successfully.
