What exactly does KB2952664 do?

KB2952664 was published on April 22, 2014 and appears in my Windows Update List (I am running Windows 7 Pro - 64 bit).

The description of this update is vague:  "This update helps Microsoft make improvements to the current operating system in order to ease the upgrade experience to the latest version of Windows."

Anyone have more information on what this update actually does? If its sole purpose is to ease the "upgrade" from Windows 7 to Windows 8 (or 8.1 or 8.1 update), then I'll just permanently hide KB2952664 (I have no desire or intention to "upgrade" my Windows 7 system to any flavor of Windows 8).

If its purpose is to ease what would be a true Windows 7 upgrade to a yet-to-be-announced Windows 7 SP2, then I'll keep it (but still would like to have more information about what KB2952664 actually does before installing).

    Good stuff.

    What does uninstall mean?  You got tricked into installing and then learned it was to be avoided?

    I looked at Woody's page, and was hoping for such a table, maintained as they come out with new ones.  No luck.  Would be convenient to have such a resource -- something to be checked after each blast.

    All required since they stopped giving any real descriptions of the updates, mostly because if they said what it was, most people would skip it.  (Note that that is not an option with Win10, which is the most fundamental reason I went from "consider upgrading after it gets some history" to "Ain't gonna upgrade, although I may not have a choice when I get a new computer".  Big bother will FORCE all updates on you, and they have NOW proven that they can't be trusted to do so, since not all updates are for OUR benefit.

    I don't know what has been changed in the most recent release of kb3035583 .... but one thing remains unchanged:  Microsoft continues to use coercive techniques to get Windows 10 installed.

    If you do not want Windows 10, then I recommend that you hide kb3035583 every time Microsoft brings it back.

    I've hidden KB3035583 twice and maintain a spreadsheet on which updates to avoid. H[#]is the hide count. U is uninstall and W is advice from http://www.askwoody.com/  Woody keeps up on the Microsoft updates.

    NOTA BENE - KB3035583 re-appeared in Windows Update on my Windows 7 system Wednesday.  Sixth time by my count, and I have no idea what has been changed.
