Qualcomm Atheros Bluetooth not working with Windows 8.1

Hello,

I am using a brand-new Samsung Atib Tab 3 tablet (XE300TZC-K01FR). I have installed the latest windows 8.1 release and now cannot use the bluetooth keyboard anymore. Seems that the issue is coming from the bluetooth card drivers (code 10 error - cannot start). What should I do now ?

It is impacting dramatically my work productivity as I can now only use the virtual keyboard. Will a fix be published very very soon?? I do not understand why it is always such a pain with Microsoft products. No wonder the company is loosing marketshares.. I do not expect revolutionnary products but at least something that do work properly...

Hello,

I had the exact same problem and fixed it myself. Here's how to do this:

Go to device manager and find the Qualcomm Bluetooth Atheros device

Then double click on it and on the drivers tab, select uninstall driver but make sure that you select "Remove driver from computer" or something to that effect.

Then rescan your computer by clicking on the small rescan icon on the top left of the device manager window.

The Atheros device will now show up as unkown device. Open it up and select install driver and don't select internet but select C: drive and check the subfolder box.

It will take a while but after a few minutes, it will install the right driver and then you need to repair your keyboard.

    The thing that pains me is because of Apple' greed and growing incompetence, Windows is limiting its loss of market share. Everyone with a basic knowledge of computing agrees that most of the Windows system is rubbish but it is customizable... If you have time (which most of us do not) you can do whatever you want. But consider that scarce resources, most of us are frustrated but currently powerless.

    I made a Microsoft Account just to say "Thank you! That worked!"

    After twenty-four-hours of struggling with these Bluetooth drivers, I can finally listen to music on my bluetooth speaker and exchange files with my phone(although a bit painfully) without a cable ! It was actually even simpler than you had it - After installing numerous drivers, I just uninstalled all of them,leaving the factory ones (clean start!) ... I even had to uninstall a couple of times the driver of the USB Module since it had several older installations... and it works!

    Now I'm with the factory version: Qualcom Atheros 8.0.1.242 from 30-Jul-2013 for the USB Module and the default 2006 Microsoft drivers for the BT Enum. and LE BT Enum. I also have an Acer Aspire V3-772G with Win 8.1, just for full info.

    So I guess this solution, as well as the one from DimitryNemirovsky, would both work!
