Qualcomm Atheros Bluetooth not working with Windows 8.1

Hello,

I am using a brand-new Samsung Atib Tab 3 tablet (XE300TZC-K01FR). I have installed the latest windows 8.1 release and now cannot use the bluetooth keyboard anymore. Seems that the issue is coming from the bluetooth card drivers (code 10 error - cannot start). What should I do now ?

It is impacting dramatically my work productivity as I can now only use the virtual keyboard. Will a fix be published very very soon?? I do not understand why it is always such a pain with Microsoft products. No wonder the company is loosing marketshares.. I do not expect revolutionnary products but at least something that do work properly...

Hello,

I had the exact same problem and fixed it myself. Here's how to do this:

Go to device manager and find the Qualcomm Bluetooth Atheros device

Then double click on it and on the drivers tab, select uninstall driver but make sure that you select "Remove driver from computer" or something to that effect.

Then rescan your computer by clicking on the small rescan icon on the top left of the device manager window.

The Atheros device will now show up as unkown device. Open it up and select install driver and don't select internet but select C: drive and check the subfolder box.

It will take a while but after a few minutes, it will install the right driver and then you need to repair your keyboard.

    I have a Lenovo G505 (slow as slow can be) which came with Windows 8 and bluetooth worked. Then I upgraded to 8.1 and bluetooth failed.

    I have the Qualcomm Atheros Bluetooth (as per the entry in add/remove programs wit6h an install date from the factory)

    Lenovo does have a new driver which takes forever to download and install but didn't seem to work.

    I opened up device manager and under bluetooth had three entries.

    Bluetooth RFBUS

    Bluetooth  RFHID

    Bluetooth V4 Module (0225)

    All have Toshiba drivers (A sense of humour at Microsoft?)

    I uninstalled and then let search for hardware changes re-install. For some reason these entries re-appeared again with Toshiba Bluetooth drivers installed.

    So try again.

    I opened up the third Item, the blue tooth module, right clicked and selected update driver software then chose "browse my computer for driver software".

    Then clicked the option "let me pick from a list of device drivers" and found in the list Qualcomm Atheros AR3012 and AR3012+HS. Not sure which was which so selected the first and let it install.

    It then updated the drivers in the other two Items to the Microsoft Bluetooth enumerator and the LE enumerator.

    Then when I opened up my phone and clicked pair everything worked OK. Well, it worked anyway and I was able to transfer photos which is all I wanted to do.

    The hype on the Qualcomm website about simplicity of connecting to everything is somehow disconnected from the reality of 8.1

    Heaven knows what will happen when I am forced to Windows 10.

    I would really like MS to go back to XP and simply update it.
