Windows 8.1 computer shuts down unexpectedly.

My computer was set to automatically set page size (Virtual Memory) and was set at 704MB, but recommended to be 1982MB.

I just changed that to "Custom" and set the range from 1982MB - 2,000MB. So we will see is that stops the without warning crashes. Also, I have 2G of actual RAM, etc.

With the computer and page size set range of 1982-2000MB it still sudddenly shuts down with no warning. So obviously that is not the problem.

The problem is Windows 8.1 is sending some system interrupt that just shuts offf the computer. This did not occur with XP and all the harware is the same. Also, people that have purchased brand new laptops with Windows 8.1 are having the same issues.

It is a BUG!!

So I hope someone at Microsoft is working on a resolution.

hey  ! did you get any solution from MS.... i m having same problem with error......:( sorry your PC couldn't started right............we are gathering some information after restart.) or some what some ting else like that..................again and again...?i m turning back to  my UBUNTU...like my    20 friends turned in same class...

After being nagged incessantly by Windows 8 to upgrade to Windows 8.1, I reluctantly fell prey. Now I am extremely remorseful because I should have known better.

As you may have guessed, I have precisely the same issue described by my woeful compatriots here. I tried everything listed, but the system has no detectable root cause to correct.  It just shuts down whenever it pleases and logs the event as unexpected quite nicely.  

I was about as happy as a Linux user could be with Windows 8.  At the very least the system was usable. I even learned to accept the way control of my pc is seized during updates as I am held captive by the warning Do Not Unplug Your PC.  The only reason I am not using Ubuntu is because of the fettered installation caused by the sinister introduction of UEFI.  But I suspect I am being compelled to invest whatever time it will take to get Ubuntu dual booting on this machine.

I can tolerate bugs that are annoyances until an update comes along and fixes it.  I can tolerate things not working quite the way they should and can adapt fairly well.  After all, I've been trained by Microsoft products for two decades now.  What I cannot tolerate is the time and creative effort that wafts into the luminiferous aether when this God forsaken operating system just cuts power in the middle of my trying to make a living.  Believe it or not, most of us are not billionaires like many of the chief peddlers of Windows 8.1; so this sort of thing is too costly for an economic mortal.  

A speedy solution to this problem is requested.
