Windows 8.1

Since installing windows 8.1 My screen shuts down in the middle of doing something and I have to start all over. Any answeres

    I was in process of rebuilding an 8.1 PC.  The last batch of updates caused it to shut down within seconds of starting.  I did manage to do a SHIFT + RESTART power button and get into the diagnostic program.  I tried to revert back to a system restore point but that failed with an unexpected error.

    The next time I got in it ran for a couple minutes before shutting down.  In that time, it tried to do an update for: Intel - other hardware - Intel Dynamic Platform and Thermal framework Driver.  Now it is shutting down within seconds of boot.

    I can't really say that the last update is related.  Not sure where to go from here.  I REALLLLLY don't want to start over!  It ran perfect up to the last group of updates.

    UPDATE:  I did the SHIFT + RESTART option in the power menu and once again tried to go back to a system restore point.  Once again if failed.  Once again it reboots and has not shut down unexpectantly.  I checked to see if there are any remaining updates.  The one I mentioned above (Intel - other hardware - Intel Dynamic Platform and Thermal framework Driver) is still listed as a pending update.

    At this point I suspect the driver update for: Intel - other hardware - Intel Dynamic Platform and Thermal framework Driver

    I just did a Windows  update for my 8.1 and now whenever I start my laptop it goes to a soft shutdown after being on for 10 seconds. I have tried to get to power settings but can't get in the few seconds my computer is on. How do I fix this automatic shutdown issue?

    My machine won't give me time to do anything it shutsdown as soon as it comes up any advice?

    Start your own thread. You don't know it is an OS issue and windows 10 is out if you want to install it as a preview. Otherwise, if your OS was fully updated you would have a windows 10 reservation button in the system tray of the task bar.

    It is an OS issue. 

    My computer is a top-line that is only about 10 days old running 8.1. It has shut down on me randomly at least 5 times since I got it. No warning, no nothing. Just blue screen of death and error. 

    This is an OS issue. I want my  Windows 10. This is ridiculous, and if  my computer previously had not literally gone up in smoke, I wouldn't hesitate to go back to *Vista* to avoid this.

    Seriously. How can a product like this hit shelves?
