Cannot defrag my computer since installing Windows 8.1?

Norton 360 says I need to optimize my C drive.

When I try - It does not complete the process.

Remains 12% fragmented.

Any suggestions on how to fix this.

Worked fine initially when Windows 8.1 and Norton 360 was installed.

Has been a problem for about a week.

After completing defrag c: -a -v from an administrative command prompt, I get the result that I should defrag the C drive, which I can't do.

THis did not work for me, still 11% fragmented... although it ran longer and went through 7 passes.

I have the same issue. STuck at 11% fragmented. Microsoft wanted to charge me and said my system was out of warranty. Just upgraded (?) my new ASUS Laptop to Windows 8.1 a month ago or so.

Working for me too. Right now Optimize is on Pass 7, 25% consolidated. Has been running for a couple of hours. (Interesting, the optimize drives dialogue is showing a process I started from the command line.)

This started with Norton 360, i.e., the error message and Fix Now not correcting anything. 15% fragmentation. Seemed like system was getting slow.

After this is done will see if Norton defrag works.

Also have 23% fragmentation in \Volume{418bcc3b ... etc.}. Will also see if I can get that one cleaned up.
