Cannot defrag my computer since installing Windows 8.1?

I have submitted the following to Microsoft support:

"I run Windows 8.1 on both my main PC and my laptop. The issue I am facing is with my main PC. Since the online update to 8.1 from Windows 8, I cannot defrag my main disk (c:). Windows is reporting it at 16% fragmentation and growing. When I run the defragmentation utility, it goes through pass 1 and suddenly stops reporting again the same fragmentation. If I run defrag from the elevated command prompt, the process stops reporting "The parameter is incorrect (0x80070057).

I have run chkdsk and sfc utilities but no luck. There is plenty of free space on my disk (more than 50%).

Same here cannot defrag after win 8.1 upgrade, A command prompt Windows open briefly thats it no defrag ???????????

Please fix this. We need a fix for the defragment. I tried defrag from the command prompt. It cannot defrag only the C drive (OS Partition). Other drives can be defragged. I see the following output when I defrag c drive:

Done all that stuff.

Windows 8.1 is flawed and awaiting fix.

Do note no Microsoft engineer ventured a fix!

Does Norton redirects to Windows Defragment feature to defrag?

It looks like Defragmentation is stuck at specific point. Let's analyze and identify the cause of the issue.

We need to check if there is any corruption with the hard drive that you are using.

a. Move the mouse pointer to bottom left of the screenwhere you see preview of start menu and right-click to bring up a list of Windows settings.

b. Click on ‘Command Prompt (Admin)’ to bring up elevated command prompt.

Note: Click ‘Yes’ if it prompts for permission.

c. In the command prompt, type **‘chkdsk /r’**and press Enter.

Answer Y when ‘chkdsk’ asks you if you want to check the drive next time computer boots (restarts).

Note: While performing chkdsk on the hard drive if any bad sectors are found on the hard drive when chkdsk tries to repair that sector if any data available on that might be lost.
