MS forced install to Windows 8.1 after I click on Remind me later.

* Original Title: MS Hijacked my computer & forced install to 8.1

I know there are other posts about that blue ribbon that asks if you want to install 8.1 - OR - rudely interrupts at inconvenient times (like during client presentations) and forces a restart (to update) without any way to postpone it. 

BUT - JUST NOW ... a blue ribbon popped up about a restart (this one looked like it had a postponement drop down) and no option to cancel. I thought I had requested a postponement but INSTEAD IT STARTED AN UPGRADE TO 8.1 WITHOUT MY APPROVAL ... WORSE ... no ability to interrupt, no ability to close open apps, no ability to do a backup first. Right now it's doing setup (about 82% complete.

I work independently, cannot afford downtime. 

IF I have to pay to have my laptop fixed I want Microsoft to pay for it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  But I will defintely drop back to Windows 7 or buy a MAC.

HELP, PLEASE!!!  (and thank you!!!)

    It happened to me too and its absolutely unacceptable.  There's a reason I have clicked cancel for months when it asked me to upgrade to Windows 8.1.  The reason is that I DON'T WANT WINDOWS 8.1!  Like ever.  Microsoft did enough damage to me when I ended up having to updgrade from Windows XP to Windows 8.  Their direction with the operating system is completely wrong and I refuse to use the metro start page, any metro applications, or the Microsoft app store.  Last time I "upgraded" my operating system I had to find a third party application to even get a decent start menu back.

    This also happened to my pc. I know I didn't click on anything because I came back from class to find my pc MID UPGRADE. I had ZERO input. I want this fixed this isn't just,"oOh well now try this to work the install we forced on you." I want and undo button. I want to go back to Windows 8 and not deal with this 8.1 driver BS. I know there is a way so tell us how to go back to before Microsoft screwed up my pc. Example, Why isn't there a restore point created to go back if I have problems or, silly me, don't like the new update i was forced to have? This isn't rocket science. I know it can be done. So please help us get back to Windows 8 not 8.1.

    This happened to me too.  I was forced to update to 8.1 and specifically did not want this update.  I have programs from work that barely work on 8.  WTF!  How can I revert to 8?

    Everything was working fine until MS took over. I'm running Verizon FIOS wifi - I haven't the slightest idea what needs to be done and frankly I do not have the time, either. I did NOT ASK FOR THIS UPGRADE - it was forced on me.

    BTW, this was the last straw, I am buying a Mac this month!!!
