MS forced install to Windows 8.1 after I click on Remind me later.

I can understand the inconvenience caused to you.

I would have you install the latest version of network card drivers from the manufacturer's website and see if it fixes the issue.

Note: Make sure you install Windows 8.1 compatible drivers. It is also recommended to update the device drivers after upgrading to Windows 8.1.

You missed the point ... it rudely took control of my computer without my authorization, without my approval, and thereby derailed the work i had scheduled for the afternoon, and forced the upgrade from 8.0 to 8.1.

This is totally inexcusable - Microsoft martial law.

And, now, 8.1 won't maintain a WiFi connection!!! Keeps dropping connection every 3-15 minutes; runs diagnostics, says it's fixed/reset and then it happens again several minutes later.

My feeling is I most definitely did not click install now or in between the remind me later and now.  Because, the thing is... I had received a ribbon notification five or more times a couple day  before the event.   Because notification ribbon was behaving "out of the norm"  I was interacting with very carefully- making sure I clicked "remind me later". The increased number of notifications seemed to indicate that something was wrong with windows and the ribbon was hungry for change. I assure you I was aware to carefully click the "remind me" later option.                                                                           

Before Windows updated to 8.1, the ribbon appeared which DID give me an option to postpone...BUT the longest option  was only  four hours.  Anxious, I searched for a way  to stop the upgrade and learned how to turn  off the Upgrade Available in the registry. Unfortunately, I did not reboot (the last step to change the registry}

Later I  received a ribbon notification saying I  had fourteen minutesto prepare for download and install. I tried to quickly reboot and perform the last step of editing the registry. Unfortunately, the ribbon had more authority and started to download the 8.1 update as soon as my notebook shut down.

This was not the way I intended to do an upgrade. I believe the notification ribbon has a "bug". If true, there are other innocent Windows 8  users  ready to be attacked.

I would like you to explain why I did not get an option to "remind me later". Thank you for quick reply.

There is no option to cancel the upgrade once it is started. It is by design. This issue might have occurred if you have clicked on the Install Now or in between the Remind me later and Install Now.

If you click on Remind me later, this prompt will appear twice in a week and depends on the location you are in.

Same thing happened to me an hour ago. I am very unhappy.  I am not a big computer person who can simply just put everything  back in place. lol  I 'm not even sure what's been changed...to put it back.

I'd like to know why I was FORCED to upgrade. Kindly, someone please explain.
