as you can see this isnt a isolated issue and needs fixing asap. especially with many big titles just coming in the next few weeks on pc !

how can this be sent higher up so this issue is resolved ? thanks.

We have issued a fix to address most of the “mouse lag” issues associated with gaming in Windows 8.1, which vary based on the game, input methods used, etc. More details on the issue and available resolutions are available via KB 2908279, and affected customers can go to the Microsoft Download Center to install the update

Maybe a much better idea to roll the whole mouse code back to Windows 8 standard on Windows 8.1 desktop versions since 8.1 also breaks high mouse poll rates.

    Something that 2908279 doesn't fix!

Also, asking end users to add each game that has mouse input issues with 8.1 to the registry is the shittiest resolution of an incidence I have ever heard from MS.

Sorry for the harsh wording, but do you honestly think that the responsible team for direct and raw input has done good work on Windows 8.1?

Probably the best thread I've found about this issue. Glad to see also that using the suggested tests the raw input is not affected (at least on my setup: 8.1 with 1000Mhz pooling rate on a Logitech G9 mouse).

    Thanks!

Did you test that with MouseRate.exe?

Hi there, I have been trying to install this update on my surface pro as I am experiencing exactly these issues since updating to 8.1 earlier today... the problem is, every time I try to install the x64 package I get the message "The update is not applicable to your computer"

I have spent almost 3 hours with Live Chat support and they cannot help me in any way.  I have a clean 8.1 install, with all required and recommended windows updates install.  I do not see this KB installed, yet I still cannot install it...
