hi all ive noticed that in some games in win 8.1 there is serious mouse lag . this makes some games almost unplayable now. this is a serious issue especially since many gamers upgraded for the benefits ingames but now cant play do to the mouse lag issues.
for me its in call of duty 4 aka modern warfare 1. there are numerous articles now about this issue and with certain games .

as you can see this isnt a isolated issue and needs fixing asap. especially with many big titles just coming in the next few weeks on pc !

We have issued a fix to address most of the “mouse lag” issues associated with gaming in Windows 8.1, which vary based on the game, input methods used, etc. More details on the issue and available resolutions are available via KB 2908279, and affected customers can go to the Microsoft Download Center to install the update

I managed to fix everything including the 120Hz monitor.
Just follow the instruction in the KB 2908279 and add c:\windows\explorer.exe
This will enable the fix for everything as long as explorer.exe is running.
For it to work, just be sure to follow every steps correctly. and also reboot after (even if it is not said).
Sounds great, so I need to install KB2908279 first.
Why when installing it, I get a message "not for this operating system version" (or of this kind), while having Windows 8.1 Pro (C) 2013 Microsoft Corporation.

This work for the described games. But it wont fix the stuttering with Explorer.exe itself when dragging windows around.
Most apparent on 120HZ monitor. Its a stutter mess that Windows 8 didn't have.
Please FIX correctly.
They won't fix it correctly. They're more interested in HiDPI displays and scaling for said displays than worrying about gamers with non MSFT mouse peripherals.

It is not possible to install it in Win 8.1 Pro, but the mouse (stumbling and freezing) and keyboard problems (random characters drop-out) still apply basically in all applications (I do not play games), including even worse in OS itself (desktop, Control Panels, Windows Explorer, Internet Explorer etc.).
I've got Intel i7 quad-core, 2GB of memory, Microsoft Sculpt Comfort Kbd & Mouse.
