as you can see this isnt a isolated issue and needs fixing asap. especially with many big titles just coming in the next few weeks on pc !

how can this be sent higher up so this issue is resolved ? thanks.

We have issued a fix to address most of the “mouse lag” issues associated with gaming in Windows 8.1, which vary based on the game, input methods used, etc. More details on the issue and available resolutions are available via KB 2908279, and affected customers can go to the Microsoft Download Center to install the update

Yeah it doesn't seem to affect everyone, perhaps it depends on what mouse etc, I don't know, all I know is that a lot of people have this issue, including me and it is annoying and it makes me lose yet even more trust in Microsoft, as if they had any left.

Thanks for the info. I've been playing a few games on Windows 8.1 this week and haven't hit this problem. COD4 and Minecraft are fine for me.

Someone want to post their dxdiag.txt? Also would be nice if someone could try these things:

    1. does turning VSYNC on change anything?
    2. does plugging in a standard mouse change anything? (or does this reproduce on any mouse?)

Is this 100% noticeable on main menu of game, and in game play? what game is this very noticeable on?

    1. VSYNC doesn't fix it.
    2. What is a standard mouse? I have a CM Storm Reaper and a Corsair Vengeance M65 and it happens for both.

I've only tried a few games so far, got an SSD and don't like installing too many games at the same time, but I've noticed it in Portal and Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, didn't really notice anything in the main menu but in the game it was very noticeable and ruined the whole experience, luckily Portal and CS:GO (and I guess most Source games) have a "Raw input" setting which fixes it, but that doesn't change the fact that this is an issue in many other games that doesn't have a Raw input setting.

And to answer your question in the other post regarding reproducing:

    • Install Portal or CS:GO.
    • Start the game.
    • Make sure "Raw input" is disabled.
    • For portal start a game or for CS:GO join a server.
    • Move around in game.

Doing the above will make mouse movements kind of like stutter/lag or something like that, feels horrible.

For me it's an upgrade to Windows 8.1, I will not be performing a clean install and if I did it would be to Windows 8 in order to avoid this issue, I've seen people with clean install reporting this same issue though.

The Dxdiag is too long to post here and I don't see any attach file feature.

Edit: Uploaded it to pastebin, it will be up there for a month: http://pastebin.com/HhpGKz5r

anyone that can post their dxdiag.txt  (Start->run->'dxdiag'   - save all copy and paste it. )

Also some repro steps would be nice, can you just say 1) launch game (COD4 etc..), 2) move mouse around in main menu and notice lag.. or something of that manner.

Also was this a clean 8.1 or an upgrade?
