We have issued a fix to address most of the “mouse lag” issues associated with gaming in Windows 8.1, which vary based on the game, input methods used, etc. More details on the issue and available resolutions are available via KB 2908279, and affected customers can go to the Microsoft Download Center to install the update

2013-10-25T16:47:16+00:00 On a sidenote, people also report refreshrate being locked to 200Hz, even when setting it to 1000 or 500 in their mousedrivers.
Did they say what kind of mouse they're using?
Well as I've said before I'm using a CM Storm Reaper and a Corsair Vengeance M65, both of which are set to run at 1000Hz but in Windows 8.1 are limited to 200Hz, at least that's what I get using the software by Mark C
I just looked those up and both of them show 8200dpi sensors. Maybe that is a different problem that adds to the situation. Something about extremely high dpi sensors.
Here is a picture of what I get with Mark C's mouse movement recorder.
Hmm, I just tried the mouse movement recorder again and it's showing me up to 1000Hz now :S Perhaps I just don't understand how to use the program, no actually I know I don't understand how to use the program. ^-^''
Either way, the CM Storm Reaper and the Corsair Vengeance M65 use the same sensor from what I could gather, so maybe it is because they have super high dpi sensors... but I'm running mine at around 800 DPI.. :S

system specs for two systems I have:
system one:
Thermaltake EVO 750watt psu
GA-MA970A-UD3 Gigabyte motherboard version 1.1
XFX HD6850 1GB AMD graphics card
Logitech G5 laser gaming mouse (I usually run it on 500mhz, and 1000mhz.)
System two:
Corsair AX850watt psu Gold efficiency rating
GA-MA770t-UD3P Gigabyte motherboard version 1.0
EVGA GTX 480 1536MB Graphics card
Logitech G5 laser gaming mouse (blue version with more buttons)
I am sure that Microsoft will come up with something eventually and also Mark C usually comes through with something good. It's just a waiting game now. Perhaps they just didn't know of the problem before.
