as you can see this isnt a isolated issue and needs fixing asap. especially with many big titles just coming in the next few weeks on pc !

how can this be sent higher up so this issue is resolved ? thanks.

We have issued a fix to address most of the “mouse lag” issues associated with gaming in Windows 8.1, which vary based on the game, input methods used, etc. More details on the issue and available resolutions are available via KB 2908279, and affected customers can go to the Microsoft Download Center to install the update

kb 2908279 doesnt work for me. I have added wow.exe and wow-64.exe for World of Warcraft like the article suggested, and still my mouse sometimes jumps and instantly changes the camera like described here: http://us.battle.net/wow/en/forum/topic/10102720358

It worked perfectly for me, I haven't noticed the problem once since applying it - that said, I haven't turned off the "disable high dpi" or "run as admin" stuff either, so I still run wow that way. (64-bit).

That "fix" did not work for me. What helped was to re-install back to windows 8.

In windows 8.1 i ran the mouse movement recorder and all it did was draw red/green lines and max hz was 200hz. Now, when i ran the same program in Windows 8, no more green/red lines and it shows correctly 1000hz. So there is something going on in windows 8.1

this fix makes the camera much better for me, but its not 100% fixed. i dunno if there comes another patch with a perfect fix?

It depends on what you mean by "fixed".

The short answer is : It is now fixed.

    The longer answer is:

Windows 8.1 delays and coalesces (batches) mouse pointer updates and WM_MOUSEMOVE events, so as to save power and extend battery life.

The delay and batching affects games that don't use Raw Input and don't use DirectInput.

Microsoft have a Windows Update which turns this new Windows 8.1 delay/batching OFF for some games automatically, and for games not in that list, they provide instructions on how to add any game to the registry and it will also have the delay/batching turned OFF.

MouseMovementRecorder V 1.12 automatically turns the delay/batching OFF while MouseMovementRecorder is running, without any registry changes, so it won't show red or green, but MouseMovementRecorder  not showing red or green DOES NOT mean any particular game is also fixed.

To fix a particular game, it needs to either:

    • Use Raw Input, or
    • Use DirectInput, or
    • Be already included in Microsoft's fix, or
    • You have to manually edit the registry for that game, using the instructions in the Microsoft update article.

Depending on the game, MouseMovementRecorder can be used to see if the game is automatically fixed, or if the game needs the manual registry edit, but the process is a bit fiddly.
