Windows store not working surface rt

I can open the store.  When I first open it after a reboot I see it saying Disney Match installing.  Must be something my kid tried to install.  Then it kicks back to start screen.  When I open again.  I cannot click on anything. The store seems to lock.  Not everything loads.  The trending and new and rising columns are there but none of the graphics load.  When I go to settings it says that settings can not be loaded at this time.

If I log in under another user that is set up on this surface the store works fine.

Basically, under the main user the Store does not work.

I have a fix!!!!! (for Windows Store not loading, just spinning with no end in sight)

I saw how making a new account would make the store work, and sometimes one account on a PC would work and another one wont. Thats because the Cache to the store is corrupted. Its a very easy fix, although you will need a little knowhow.

  1. First thing you're going to need to restart your machine so none of the files are in use, when Windows restarts don't open the store!!!
  2. search in the charms bar for: Folder Options click it and in the second tab in folder options (view tab) click "show hidden files, folders, and drives"
  3. After you can see the hidden files open the file explorer go to your C:\

navigate to this folder c:\users(your name)\AppData\Local\Packages\WinStore_(a bunch of letters)\LocalState\Cache\

  1. now I would say delete everything in this folder but just to be safe make a new folder on the desktop and move EVERYTHING there, should be a bunch of numbered folders starting with 0 and a file called cachemetadata.dat MOVE OR DELETE IT ALL!!! now try and open the store again, the store should make fresh files and now open (after a little time wait a few seconds)

it worked for me on BOTH of my machines and I REALLY need to hear back from you guys if this works. If it does work than I/we can contact Microsoft to make a fix that will delete this folders contents and help thousands...

I know just from searching I have found DOZENS of web pages that people are screaming for a fix for this... and me being one guy that it happened on not one, but TWO machines it was something that needed attention... all it took was 2 hours of poking and moving files to find, I have not a clue what Microsoft is doing and why they couldn't have found this... (if it works for you ;)

my name is Dustin I do computer repairs out of my home in Adams MA I love computers, it's my hobby and (trying) to make it my full time job... let me know if I can help you any more!

    Hi,

    Thank you for the reply.

Try these steps and check, These will re-register the store.

    a. Press “Windows Key + Q” button from the keyboard.

    b. Type “Command Prompt” without quotes in the search box.

c**.** On the left pane, right click on the “Command Prompt” option and select “Run as Administrator”.

    d. Run the following command, restart the computer and check

powershell -ExecutionPolicy Unrestricted Add-AppxPackage-DisableDevelopmentMode -Register $Env:SystemRoot\WinStore\AppxManifest.xml

Hi Ganesh, I already tried running the DISM tools.  There was nothing to repair but I still ran

the repairs, restarted and the store still doesn't work.   I also ran these in powershell to no avail:

    Repair-WindowsImage -Online -CheckHealth

    Repair-WindowsImage -Online -ScanHealth

    Repair-WindowsImage -Online -RestoreHealth

I created a new user account and that does allow me to use the store, but it seems a little silly not to be able to use the store in my main account right?

    I appreciate your help!

    Hi,

Running the DISM and System File Checker tools and check.

The following steps will help you to fix corrupted system files, this might help in fixing the issue.

Step 1: Refer to “Run the DISM tool” section. Please ignore the thread title.

    http://windows.microsoft.com/en-IN/windows-8/windows-update-error-0x800b0100

    Step 2:

Use the System File Checker tool to repair missing or corrupted system files.

    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929833/en-us

As a work around, I would suggest you to create a new user account and check the issue status in the new user account.

    Create a user account.

Hi, I still need a fix for this issue.  I personally really don't want to go through the hassle of having to reset my tablet.  There must be an easier solution!!

And furthermore, even if I reset the thing, what's to stop it from happening again?

It seems obvious that they have no fix for this issue.  If you have the replacement warranty they will send you a refurbished unit.  They have an issue and I get a refurbished unit.  Needless to say I no longer suggest a surface to anyone.  Don't get me wrong I love my surface and think it is head and shoulders above IPad or whatever google has, but I cannot suggest someone buy one because this was a serious issue and the tech support on it is non existent.  The tech guy I got had no clue about surface or RT at all.  He used to to tech for Xbox, but he was either an idiot or got minimal training on the Surface and RT.  I expect more of Microsoft. They are usually a worldclass organization, but on this issue they have failed AND FAILED MISERABLY.
