Windows store not working surface rt

I can open the store.  When I first open it after a reboot I see it saying Disney Match installing.  Must be something my kid tried to install.  Then it kicks back to start screen.  When I open again.  I cannot click on anything. The store seems to lock.  Not everything loads.  The trending and new and rising columns are there but none of the graphics load.  When I go to settings it says that settings can not be loaded at this time.

If I log in under another user that is set up on this surface the store works fine.

Basically, under the main user the Store does not work.

I have a fix!!!!! (for Windows Store not loading, just spinning with no end in sight)

I saw how making a new account would make the store work, and sometimes one account on a PC would work and another one wont. Thats because the Cache to the store is corrupted. Its a very easy fix, although you will need a little knowhow. 

  1. First thing you're going to need to restart your machine so none of the files are in use, when Windows restarts don't open the store!!!
  2. search in the charms bar for: Folder Options click it and in the second tab in folder options (view tab) click "show hidden files, folders, and drives"
  3. After you can see the hidden files open the file explorer go to your C:\ 

navigate to this folder c:\users(your name)\AppData\Local\Packages\WinStore_(a bunch of letters)\LocalState\Cache\

  1. now I would say delete everything in this folder but just to be safe make a new folder on the desktop and move EVERYTHING there, should be a bunch of numbered folders starting with 0 and a file called cachemetadata.dat MOVE OR DELETE IT ALL!!! now try and open the store again, the store should make fresh files and now open (after a little time wait a few seconds)

it worked for me on BOTH of my machines and I REALLY need to hear back from you guys if this works. If it does work than I/we can contact Microsoft to make a fix that will delete this folders contents and help thousands...

I know just from searching I have found DOZENS of web pages that people are screaming for a fix for this... and me being one guy that it happened on not one, but TWO machines it was something that needed attention... all it took was 2 hours of poking and moving files to find, I have not a clue what Microsoft is doing and why they couldn't have found this... (if it works for you ;)

    Maybe but with zero diagnostics and zero documentation we need to start somewhere.

    BTW in another thread regarding the Store and modern apps I found a way of simulating the symptom using the Guest account.   There is clearly a misleading message in that case.  E.g. obviously whatever condition it had detected about my Guest account (perhaps that it was not associated with a Live Id?) was being (ridiculously) misreported as me not being connected to the Internet!  This happened even after I got signed in to my Live Id and tried to connect to the Store via a web page or tried using the method in the TechNet blog from an elevated cmd window:

    start "" "ms-windows-store:"

    I wasn't sure if that was supposed to work then but I just tested it now and it works.  So, that session would no longer have been associated with the Guest account; it would have been associated with the Live ID account that I had used to elevate the cmd window and yet starting that app still produced the erroneous message? 

    The good news is that that simulation can be done on real W8 (not RT), so now there is a potential for doing the necessary blackbox reverse engineering, aided by ProcMon, to try to understand how this stuff is supposed to work, in spite of its horrible supportability and misleading messages/behaviors.
