Windows 7 Video Hardware Errors, frequent crashes, screen freezes.

I actually was able to get into the computer earlier today;  I removed the GTX 650 (my current graphics card) and reverted to using the on board integrated graphics.  This allowed me time to uninstall the graphics driver I had for my GTX 650 which was 332.21 released on January 7, 2014.  I then installed an older driver for it: 331.82 released on November 19, 2013.

I thought this was working until about 20 minutes ago when my screen went black for 10 seconds and then returned with this error:

The story here with my graphics cards (which you can already tell) is that I used to have a GTS 450.  That worked great for 3 years and then died on me recently.  I was actually experiencing similar problems to what is happening right now.  I was getting the same error shown in the message above!

After my GTS 450 died, I made a warranty claim and got this GTX 650.  Everything worked fine for a month until the problems started... (crashing no signal etc.).

I just searched through my old receipts and here is the information on my power supply, looks fine to me:

I bought the power supply in May 2011, I am assuming it can't already be going bad right?

How would I find out if my power supply is having issues and not my graphics card? (You said Speccy can't do it?)

Have you tried booting into Windows using the 'last known configuration that worked'

(or similarly worded boot option )  ?

I only have the free version of WhoCrashed and  it interprets a driver crash leading to a TDR. 

TDR errors can be caused by many things other than the gpu drivers, but they always

point to the gpu because it was running when a lag in the system .

In addition to hardware problems software conflicts can cause TDR. Things such as outdated

system drivers, conflicting Startup programs, Anti-Virus programs and even too high settings

(or mods)  in  games can all cause a  lag which leads to a TDR.

-Judging by Data 1 you were experiencing problems with the GTS450 as well, yes ?

Before going into the many possibilities  (and Patrick B may drop by and post his list of things

to do regarding TDR errors as well)  lets skip ahead to -

"Is it possible my graphics card is not receiving enough power?"

Quite possible if you have upgraded from a graphics card  that had lower power requirements

without verifying  your psu  has adequate Watts, and Amps on the +12V rail.

[ EDIT: I was thinking a GTS 450 had a lower power requirement (300W) than a GTX650 - not so.

They both have recommended minimum power requirement of 400W.

A faulting psu  is a potential source of system lock-ups, but more likely random reboots.

Not a likely source of TDR though ].

btw - A good user/reader friendly system information report program is    Speccy - Standard

It shows a lot of detail including current temps, drivers and other good stuff, but not the psu

info unfortunately.
